You will probably take the test with another candidate.
There are two examiners: 1. Interlocutor: conducts the test and asks
questions2. Assessor: assesses and contributes to
your fianl mark.
Part 1: InterviewTotal time: 3 minsThe Interlocutor asks you Qs that require you to give basic personal information about yourself. You may speak with your partner in this part if you want to, though you do not have to.
Part 2: Talking about photographsTotal time: 4 minsYou have 1 minute to compare two photographs and add some further comment about them. You also have up to 20 seconds to comment on your partner’s pictures. You do not talk to your partner in this part.
Part 3: Collaborative task Total time: 3 minsThe Interlocutor listens while you and your partner perform a speaking task together. You may be asked to try to agree or reach a decision by the end of the task
Part 4: Further discussion Total time: 4 minsThe Interlocutor asks further Qs related to the topic introduced in Part 3. As well as responding to these questions you should also interact with your partner and comment on what he or she says.

Part 1Interview
The Interlocutor will ask you at least 3 Qs to give you the chance to introduce yourself and give an opinion on a general topic: PERSONAL INFORMATION (NAME, NATIONALITY, HOMETOWN, ETC) LIKES AND DISLIKES HOMELIFE FREE TIME EDUCATION AND WORK TRAVEL
Time: maximum 3 mins (4 mins for groups of three)
TIPS:❄ Don’t just say
‘yes’ or ‘no’ to the interlocutor’s questions; try to explain ‘why?’ or give the reason yourself.
❄ Remember to include personal details to make your answer interesting.
Speaking sample
The Interlocutor will begin with the candidate by saying something like:
The Interlocutor will ask each of you a minimum of 3 Qs
❄ Q: Hello. My name is... and this is my colleague...
❄ Q: And your names are…?
Note: No need to spell your name.
❄ Q: First of all, we’d like to know something about you.
Part 2Talking about photographs (long turn)
Time: 1 min for each candidate + 20 seconds response from second
candidate.❄ The Interlocutor will read you a situation and give a picture with some ideas to help you.
❄In turn, candidates are given a pair of photographs to talk about.
Tips- Listen, not interrupt your partner while he/she is talkinggive short answer for their question.- Use Q written on the photograph to remind of what you are talking about.- Devide your talk wisely to make sure you cover 2 tasks.
Sample questionStudent A: Look at these two photographs. They show grandfathers with their grandchildren. Compare these photographs and say how important grandparents can be in situations like these.
Student B: When your partner has finished, say if an older relative has taught you to do something. (20 seconds)

Part 3Collaborative task
Time: 3 mins (1 min for each picture description and 2 mins for the final discussion)

Each candidate is given a photo and has to talk about this topic, either from the examiner or their partner.
When Candidate A has finished the examiner gives Candidate B his/her picture. Both candidates participate in a discussion with a set of questions the Interlocutor asks
about the similar themes of the two pictures
TIPS❄ The first task is
very importanttry to say about each picture as much as you can.
❄ Interact with your partner when talking about each picture.
❄ Take turns, don’t dominate the conversation

Sample question
Part 3 is about the History Museum.The following questions might be asked in part 4: What do you think to make a good history museum? How could the teaching of history in schools be improved? Do you agree that learning about the past is important for our
future? What was the most important moment in the history of the
twentieth century? What has been the most important moment in your life so far? What items from our lives today will be in the history museums of
the future?
GENERAL TIPS FOR SPEAKING
1 Don’t worry if the
Interlocutor stop you
before you have
finished everything that you
want to say.You and your partner
will be given the exact time set out in the test

clearly so that the Assessor and the
Interlocutor can hear
you.
