Fashion Studies 20 W.H. Croxford High School Room: 1019 Teacher: Ms. Parker email:[email protected] Course Description: Fashion Studies is designed around the clothing industry. It builds off of modules completed in Fashion 10 to create more in-depth and intricate garments. You will be creating a dress with embellishments and embroidery for yourself or another person as well as accessories. You will also be exploring and experimenting with beading and leather work. This course is module based and depending on the engagement and motivation you can obtain five credits. Students will have to pass (over 50%) all modules to obtain full credits for the course. Modules Covered: FAS2090 Specialty Fabrics 1: Students research, experiment with and produce a project, using a specialty fabric. Project(s): Dress FAS2120 Surface Embellishment: Students practice a variety of embellishment techniques and apply these skills to a finished project. Projects(s): Beading Embroidery or Dress Embellishment FAS2130 Construction Fundamentals 2: Students apply intermediate construction techniques and knowledge of fabrics and patterns to complete a garment for the lower torso. Project(s): Dress FAS2160 Creating Accessories 2: Students study accessories related to fashion, and produce a fashion accessory. Project(s): Belt or Wallet FAS1190 Textile Arts 1: Students explore various yarn or textile art techniques and apply basic skills while creating a project. Projects(s): Quilting or Cross-Stitching
