Fashion in the 1920s

Women’s fashion
• Women's fashion dramatically changed in the early 1920’s
• Art was a great influence on the change of women's fashion.
• Women’s clothing became more comfortable .
• They began to wear shorter skirts. (knee length)
• Bustles and corsets were forgotten
• Women began to wear loose dresses that had straight silhouettes.
• Women cut their hair short to fit under popular hats called cloche hats.
Men's Fashion
• Men's fashion also changed. They began to wear extremely high-waisted jackets, mostly worn with belts.
• Lapels on suit jackets were not as wide as they used to be, because men tended to button them up high.
• Trousers were narrow and straight, and they were often somewhat short, so a man’s socks would show.
• Men’s would wear hats base on their class. Upper-class men usually wore top hats, middle class would wear trilby hats, lowers class would wear flat cap sor none at all.
