Rutledge / JD Hair presents a collaboration Winter Wonderland Catwalk in the spectacular ballroom of the newly refurbished hotel, to officially open Fashion Fest 2014. Retailers Austins, Fosters, Cityman, OMG Rags, Miss Selfridge, F&F (Tescos) and Ultimate Dress will come together to showcase their Autumn / Winter Collections for the entire family no matter what the event.

Stylish Pink Ladies and Pink Panthers will join dancers from the Waterside Dance House to strut their style on a truly unique, interactive Catwalk supplied by Enlightenment Entertainment for a fun, energetic and utterly fashionable evening. With hair and make-up styled by Rutledge (JD Salon), Hairspray and Addiction, guests will be entertained on the night by compere Mickey Doherty with live music from DJ Tomski in a space transformed by the expert hands of Ultimate Touches.

Special guest appearances from Dearbhla Walsh, current Miss Derry and Derry City F.C. Captain, Barry Molloy.

Fashion Futures is a competition where local designers will create a couture or avant-garde piece which will reflect a local boutique or fashion retailer.

The winner of the Face of Fashion Fest will also be announced at the event.

Horse Meat Disco Performing at Designer Fashion Showcase

The fashion world has certainly embraced the gang having been enlisted to DJ worldwide for brands as diverse as Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Acne and Diesel. The four man DJ club collective have continued to lead the way in the disco field with packed residencies at their HQ Eagle London in London’s inner city Vauxhall, Cielo in New York, Berlin and Paris.

Duke Special Performing at Wedding Fashion Showcase

From the decadence of the 1920’s Jazz Age, the pure glamour of the 1930’s Dance Band Era and the nostalgia of the War Years, exciting Rhythm ‘n’ Blues, Jumpin’ Jive, exotic Latin and Calypso beats through to the Rock ‘n’ Roll explosion of the 1950s, Duke Special will run the gamut of 78rpm DJ-ing! Be prepared to swing, tap and jive your body to the sounds that Mr. Special will have in store for you!

Ursula McHugh Performing at Wedding Fashion Showcase / High Tea & Fancy Frocks

Ursula McHugh made her debut at City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival in 2009 as Ursula & Co. Her influences are the show tunes of Rodgers and Hart, Gershwin and Cole Porter.

Kevin Bower Performing at Wedding Fashion Showcase

Kevin is a popular teacher and has lectured and given master classes in many countries. He is Organist to the University of Glasgow, where he plays for many of the 150 annual weddings. Couples are encouraged to have “absolutely anything they want” played on the organ. He has never turned down any request and is sure to impress with his new 60 minute collage of wedding music incorporating 60 wedding music themed pieces which he will showcase exclusively at St Columbs Cathedral.

The National Tailoring Academy at Louis Copeland is the first place to get complete training in bespoke and fashion tailoring. We are at the newly opened Fashion and Textile Design Centre on Shipquay Street are very excited to avail of their master tailors’ skills by providing the facilities to present a fantastic opportunity to experience the world of craft tailoring. Hosted by Kirstie McMurray (Downtown Radio) this event is sure to be one of the highlights of Fashion Fest 2014. The stunning setting of St Columb’s’ Cathedral will provide a magnificent backdrop and fairytale feel to help breathe magic into those hectic wedding preparations.

With exclusive composition of music by gifted organist Kevin Bowyer local wedding retailers and designers will showcase their outfits on a special raised catwalk along the length of the historic aisle for this occasion. Among the retailers showcasing are: Armore Bridal, Austin’s (Moss Bros), Bridal Showroom, Beautiful Day, Bridal Elegance, Black Tie Showroom, Couture Bridal Accessories, Debenhams, Tomorrows Bridal Wear, The Closet, Fosters MOB and Occasion Wear and Esquire Menswear.

The successful Foyle Folk Workshop programme, which ran in conjunction with the 2013 City of Culture, is back on Saturday 22nd November. As part of Derry City Council’s Legacy programme the Nerve Centre will offer up to 30 participants (13-18 year olds) full day workshops & masterclasses on techniques to improve song writing, alternative guitar tunings, mandolin, banjo, bouzouki and live performance skills.

Participants will then get the chance to perform at this year’s Foyle Folk Presents gig on 29th November, in the Sandwich Co. featuring some of Ireland’s finest established and up and coming contemporary folk acts. It’s free to sign up though participants will need to have access to their own instruments and have some basic knowledge/prior experience, as these classes are ideally not for absolute beginners.
