Women’s wear Forecast• Arty – This season experiments with joy and influences from

all disciplines of art, whether painting, drawing, sculpting, assembling or collecting. From renewed skills of needlework to the craziest splashes of colours, beautifully worn fabrics meet avant-garde technical materials in an intense moment of self-expression.

• Patchwork – Stitching pieces of fabric together pays tribute to a simple life where personal talent is celebrated. This refined fashion is influenced by nature. An easy-going but not totally rustic style cherishes traditional checks and stripes, blurred knits and corduroy. The softness of moss and revisited animal hair bring a sense of quietness, while flower patterns hardly show. Colours are dark and convenient, sombre yet subtle. => can be portrayed by piecing, blocking concepts.

Women’s wear Forecast• Volume – Garments are created from the modelling of

fabrics around the body, exploring new shapes, sculpturing in volume. Proportions are exaggerated. Fabrics themselves are 3D, regular or not, shorn, fluffy, assembled, scratched. Colours are neutral from grey to beige; blacks are meant to outline figures.

• Abstract – In a modernist vision, fabrics meet in geometrical and studied compositions. Classical woollens encounter smooth technical materials and leather. Textiles also bear structure, displaying different weave effects or touches. Colours are neat, patterns graphic and embroidery angular. Finishes wander in sinuous curves.

Women’s wear Forecast• Splash – Clothes become canvases for pieces of art. All

gestures are interesting: brushing, dripping, stippling, spraying or even scribbling with felt pens. They give a gay and colourful twist to a chic and feminine wardrobe. Away from streetwear, silk satins or technical materials proudly stand for an avant-garde fashion.

• Collector – In the spirit of great and curious collectors, pick up and gather precious and exceptional fabrics. Loose threads, blurred flowers, overstitched prints, metallic shine in cloques married to woollen yarns, these faraway or castaway riches mix in a warm colour range and sing of great emotional adventures.

Women’s wear Forecast• Bohemian – Splendours from the past are salvaged and

remixed in a relaxed, yet extremely stylish look. Devore velvets, crushed pleats, ottomans, large patterned jacquards and oriental prints evoke luxurious times to which faded military glories add decayed gilt and adornment through the generous use of trimmings, decorations, fringes and braids. Neutral woollens contrast this richness bringing structure to these stories plus a sense of everyday ease. Colours include oxidized metallics, neutrals such as black or khaki plus intense highlights such as red and petrol blue.

Men’s wear Forecast• Urban Magic – The mere act of looking has the power to

transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. As if by magic, night lit windows dance in the dark like a Highland cloak, black refuse liners have the spotlight glamour of a tuxedo, inflatable architecture inspires geometrical cut and air-filled textures, jacquards and patterns entwine in a elaborate constructions, tweeds have the poetry of a forgotten garden. • Velvets and satins – Black that reflects. Shine defines dynamic shapes, enhances luxury textures. Black is no longer a colour, it is a sculpture, a three dimensional medium with the power to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Black is form and feel.

Men’s wear Forecast• Nylon and rare fleeces – Lightness and softness are

controlled by precision cutting and soft edge geometry. Rounded lines define a soft shell non-restrictive construction that feels safe. Oversized creations and bold colour create a ‘blown out of proportion’ effect.

• Pattern construction – The geometry of multi-scale jacquards in a neat and precise form. Minimal and distinguished for suitings, overlaid by skilled and researched, craft-like vintage designs for knitwear. Exotic fur accessories for a spell of magic.

Men’s wear Forecast• Highland swagger – Drama, playfulness, the bravura of all-

enveloping plaids. Scale and volume is all – large proportions and generous use of fabric that brings drape and fluidity atop a tailored silhouette. An essential colour vehical for the season.

• Woollen and tweeds – Artful layers that have the softness and poetry of an old painting. Tweed, cashmeres, leathers, velvets, furs all skillfully overlaid into a picture like composition of vintage romance. Felting further softens this gentle palette of neutrals.

New Posh• Garment Shapes: Beautifully refined pieces in the most

luxurious yarns and delicate structures. Shapes are classically neat with emphasis on a slimline silhouette. Necklines are higher and sleeves are slimmer, whilst the elbow length sleeve is the one to watch. Details are understated, but always impeccable. End-use: formal feminine.

Abstract• Colours: Extrovert creations are the catalyst for this collection

of strong brights: think artist’s palette; clashing primaries of poster red, Yves Klein blue, egg yellow and viridian green set against deepest, dark contrast.

• Yarn Inspiration: Multi media yarns: dipped, painted, painted and printed, random fancy effects, poodle, boucles, mohair, coarse rovings, flamboyant, twists, thick and thin, flat and loopy.

• Garment Shapes: Freeform and expressive fabrics require a large canvas and knit shapes are scaled up to suit. Statement pieces worn with sloppy abandon and a sense of humour. Giant rolled necklines, long roomy sleeves and chunky ribs on rounded cocooning shapes. Junior market applications.

Elemental• Colours: Blurred and broken combinations. Almost

monochrome: from ice white through twilight grey and shale, dusky gradations to dark inky midnight.

• Yarn Inspiration: Look at timeless classics and inject new technical developments. Re-work Donegals, heather yarns, tweedy effects and new eco organic blends. Also winter cotton blends, lambswool and a hint of cashmere luxury.

• Garment Shapes: Certain nostalgia in knits that have a handcrafted quality in stitch and construction. Twin-sets and fashioned Fairisles, neat in size and look, feature alongside more robust, chunky cardigan coats and masculine V-necks. Don’t forget to belt it. Relaxed everyday wear.

Re-work• Colours: A fresh look at tradition. Observe the classics and

the re-colour them using a rich autumnal palette: orange, pinks, mossy greens, earth browns and biscuit.

• Yarn Inspiration: Grainy and broken aspects, warm and protective. Contrasted twists, melanges, technical blends, multi-ended effects, chenilles, fancy fur, space-dyes, graded and metallic mixes.

• Garment Shapes: Cut it square and let the body give it form. Granular and textural melanges translate into big tunic shapes with extra wide sleeves on exaggerated sloping shoulders. Finer pieces are layered under. Urban casual or outdoor pieces.

Menswear Knits• Uncle Vanya – Embroidered knits influenced by Russian

folk patterns. Jacquard scarves, collars, hem and cuffs. Sumptuous textures are created from variations of layering different gauged knits and embroidery. Velvet textured knits. Cossack inspired detailing. The use of autumnal colours mixed with blue give a rich eclectic feel.

• High school (The Cardigan) – Bold, block coloured cardigans and tone-on-tone retro patterning with plains areas to create an eccentric ‘class clown’ look. Simple cord and plated ribs with patch details. Over-sized shapes to move away from the skinny look. 1980s teen movie feel – new “Brat Pack’. College and schoolboy navy, maroon and red, especially for contrasting tippings.

Menswear Knits• Night Hawk – Masculine filigree and lace-like knits in dark

luxury yarns. Knitted appliques – dark on dark. Subtle textures and details. Fine gauge, velvety velour and plush yarns. High gloss wool blends make for technical decorative effects. Slim-fitting roll necks, contrasted with over sized, layered jumpers. Smokey purples, muted maroons, masculine dusty powdered tones with black.

• Veggie Patch – A subject that continues to evolve, the ‘new organic’ theme. Inspired by vegetable gardening. Fingerless gloves and turned-up cuffs, a modern market trader. Organic, chunky, oversized cable knits give a creeping vine look. Mix gauges and rib sizes to create an unusual look. Boiled wools and felts. Homemade, handmade. An emphasis on greens and evergreens through to muted yellow casts.

Menswear Knits• Winter Trail – Folk aspects mix up with great outdoors for

a simple, modern take on vintage winter patterns. Double faced constructions and fleece yarns for warmth in a survival situation. Combine knit styles and gauges in a precise technical way. A modern patchwork of styles. Body-hugging shapes with chunky scarves. Browns look new again, particularly if they have a warm ginger feel; work them with dark taupes, sky blue and vintage yellow.
