Farringtons School
15 February 2019
Dear Parents,
It hardly seems possible that we are already half way through
this academic year, however, I can attest to the excellent work
that has been going on in school, particularly in Years 11 and 13.
I have personally interviewed a large number of individuals from
these year groups since Christmas and you should be proud of the
way they are maturing into highly capable, mature and reflective
young adults. A highlight of the term was our ISI Inspection report
and it was great that the Bromley Borough News acknowledged our
academic, university destination and compliance successes at the
end of January. In addition, there have been great sports results
and impressive performances in 'Grease' - my thanks to all
students, staff and parents who made this a fantastic experience
for performers, audience and back stage crew members alike. The
standard of school uniform is mostly very good - thank you for
seeing this as a priority however, please also support us by
ensuring that no haircut is shorter than a number 3 and should be
of a natural colour. Our newest edition of, 'Focus on Farringtons,'
will be distributed to all pupils on return from half term, Monday
25 February. Although it does not cover every single activity that
has been enjoyed in recent weeks, (these can be perused though
looking at the school calendar), it gives you a flavour of the wide
range of experiences had and achievements accomplished by your
children. In addition, don't miss the article from a wonderful
former Art student, Janet Leung - you will be amazed by her
artistic creations. I trust that you will have a lovely half term
with your families. With kind regards, Dorothy A Nancekievill Head
VESPA Parents Information Session
Thank you to all of the parents that were able to join Mr
Garwood and Mrs Rabot for the VESPA (Vision, Effort,
Systems, Practice, and Attitude) training session on Tuesday
evening. The intention of this training was to
further support students in developing even better learning and
study and to highlight the benefits of
developing good habits no matter what the age of your child;
habits which are crucial for academic success. We
were very pleased to see so many parents there and hope that you
found it an informative and useful session.
Year 13 Mock Exams
A huge ‘well done’ to the Year 13 students who have been taking
their mock exams throughout the week.

Unfortunately, due to other commitments and an increased
workload, our brilliant secretary will be stepping

therefore looking for an enthusiastic individual to join
our team. The role is voluntary and the ideal candidate would
have good administrative and communication skills
or some experience of this role. Please contact:

29 March Coffee Morning
29 June Fun Day
8 November Fireworks
23 November Christmas Market
JOIN OUR TEAM If you are looking to get involved and make a
difference plus meet some other parents, then now is the perfect
time to join the FPA. Running events and working alongside the
school, gives us the opportunity to help enhance our children’s
time whilst they are at Farringtons. Just some of the items donated
by the FPA last year were outdoor tables, a clock for the garden,
new sports kits, Cricket nets, a new Trim Trail and playground
items for the junior school plus a sound system for the Chapel.
None of this would be possible without your continued support or
the work of the FPA. We meet once a month and welcome new members.
Our next meeting committee meeting 20 March 2019 7.30pm (In the
dining hall) Please contact [email protected] for further
information. We have some fantastic events planned over the coming
months so watch this space!

MATCH FUNDING
Many large companies offer match funding benefits to employees -
where they match a figure your chosen
charity raises - up to £700 per time. We'd love to hear from
anyone whose company offers this benefit, as we are
a registered charity so could increase the revenue from the
events we run enormously. If just a handful of
parents stepped forward it would make a massive difference. Your
HR department will be able to confirm if your
company participates in the scheme – most large banks do as well
as other sectors.
