Call to Worship
Early on the first day of the week, Mary went to the tomb and
found the stone rolled away.
Christ is alive! Today, we are witnesses to this amazing act of love.
Give thanks to the Lord, for God’s love endures forever!
This is the day the Lord has made.
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
*Processional Hymn Jesus Christ is Ris’n Today arr. D. Cherwein
Jesus Christ is ris’n today, Alleluia!
Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
Suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!
Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
Unto Christ, our heav’nly king, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!
But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
Our salvation have procured, Alleluia!
Now above the sky he’s king, Alleluia!
Where the angels ever sing. Alleluia!
Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!
Praise eternal as God’s love, Alleluia!
Praise our God, ye heav’nly host, Alleluia!
Father, Son and Holy Ghost, Alleluia! Amen!
*Call to Confession
*Prayer of Confession
Living God, we confess that we look for the living among the dead.
We are foolish and slow to believe the promise of the prophets.
We are frightened and full of doubt, even when you stand among us.
Forgive us, God of grace.
Open our hearts to receive your word,
and feed us with the bread of life,
the life that death cannot destroy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Please continue in silent prayer
*Declaration of Forgiveness
*The Response
*The Peace
The Peace of Christ be with you.
And also with you.
~The Word~
Prayer for Illumination
Almighty God, by the power of your Spirit roll away the stone and
reveal to us the Word of Life. Amen.
New Testament Reading Colossians 3:1-4
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm 118 Jenni Nieman, cantor Hopson
Give thanks, give thanks to our gracious God, whose love endures for ever;
The Lord, our strength and song shall be, from whom no fault can sever. (R)
(Continued next page)
Sing joyful songs of victory, both now and through eternity,
For God will leave us never, for God will leave us never. (R)
I shall not die, but I shall live, and sing God’s grace with elation.
Though I deserve no more than death, God blesses me with salvation. (R)
The gate that should unyielding be is open wide to welcome me,
Give thanks and adoration, give thanks and adoration. (R)
Upon the stones the builders judged imperfect, weak and tender,
Now rest the corners of God’s house, still unsurpassed in splendor. (R)
This is the day the Lord has made; God is my sun, and God my shade;
Rejoice, your praise now render! Rejoice, your praise now render! (R)
A Moment with the Children (11:00) Rev. Matt Nieman
Gospel Reading John 20:1-18
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, O Christ.
Sermon “Where the Graves Are” Rev. Matt Nieman
~The Response~
*Affirmation of Faith
What does it mean that “on the third day” Jesus “rose again from the
dead”?
That our Lord could not be held by the power of death. Having died
on the cross, he appeared to his followers, triumphant from the grave,
in a new, exalted kind of life. In showing them his hands and his feet,
the one who was crucified revealed himself to them as the Lord and
Savior of the world. ~Adapted from the PC(USA) Study Catechism, Question 46

Where has the time gone? It is time for us to
update our Pictorial Church Directory. Kids have
grown, beards have come or gone, hair color and
styles have changed…it is TIME! We plan to print
the next directory in June. Families and individuals
have these choices: Keep the same photo we are
using now, or email a different photo to the church
office ([email protected]). With Easter here, you might also consider
getting a directory photo taken this morning in front of our flower-filled
cross. We will have several folks available to take your photo, before and
after both services. For questions, contact Mikie Lancaster, 675-0360 or
