1 FAQs About Installation
1.1 Before using my data card, what do I need to do?
Before using your data card, do the following:
1. Check that your PC has a USB 2.0 port (not USB 3.0 port).
2. Install your data card.
For details about how to install a data card, see section 1.2 How do I install my data card?

1.2 How do I install my data card?
To install your data card, do the following:
1. Insert your data card to one of your PC's USB ports; alternatively, use a USB cable to connect
your data card to your PC.
2. Wait about 20 seconds for your PC to recognize the data card.

The PC's operating system (OS) will automatically run the HiLink E3272s-153 PC suite and
open a web page:
� Windows Vista and Windows 7 will open HiLink E3272s-153's homepage directly
without installing any patch.
� Windows XP will automatically install a patch before opening HiLink E3272s-153's
homepage.
3. If HiLink E3272s-153 is not automatically installed, perform the steps in section 1.3 How do I
enable my PC to automatically install programs? or section 1.4 How do I install the PC suite
when my PC does not install it automatically?
4. If the data card fails to establish a dial-up connection to the Internet, enter 192.168.1.1 in the
browser address bar to access the HiLink E3272s-153's homepage, and click CONNECT.

1.3 How do I enable my PC to automatically install programs?
Your PC can automatically install programs when your PC's AutoPlay feature is enabled.
� To enable AutoPlay in Windows Vista or Windows 7, do the following:
1. Choose Start > Run, enter AutoPlay, and click OK to open the AutoPlay configuration
window.
2. Select Install or run program from your media for Software and games.

� To enable AutoPlay in Windows XP, do the following:
4. Choose Start > Run, enter gpedit.msc, and click OK to open the Group Policy window.
5. In the left pane, choose Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative

want to enable Autoplay, and choose Properties.

4. Right-click the CD drive for the data card, and choose AutoPlay to install the HiLink
E3272s-153 PC suite.
5. Follow the instructions to install the PC suite.

Do the following:
1. Connect your data card to your PC, and wait until your PC recognizes the data card, as show

3 FAQs About Usage
3.1 How do I configure a profile?
Incorrect profile configuration will result in dial-up failure. The default profiles in data cards
customized by operators need no change. If the default profile in your data card is incorrect,
you can configure it manually.

2. Open the browser from your PC, type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar, and press Enter. Click
Settings > Profile Management > New to create a new profile. In the New dialog box,
configure the following settings:
� Profile name: Enter a name for the new profile.
� APN: Enter the access point name provided by your operator.
� User name: Enter the user name provided by your operator.
� Password: Enter the password provided by your operator.

3. Click Save.

3.2 How do I upgrade the PC suite online?
1. Launch the web browser from your PC, access 192.168.1.1, and click Updates. (If updates
are available, Updates found is displayed below the Updates icon.) The Updates tab
describing the version, size and features of the update is displayed, as shown in Figure 3-5.

4.1 I cannot access the Internet or open web pages after a dial-up connection has been set up, why?
1. Check whether the current APN is correct. (Refer to section 3.1 How do I configure a
profile?)
2. Check whether Windows Firewall has been enabled:
Choose Start > Control Panel > Security Center.

disable it, and then attempt to re-access the Internet.

4. If you can access the Internet and open web pages after the firewall is disabled, the firewall
settings are incorrect. In this case, refer to the firewall's Help file for correct firewall settings.
5. Do the following to disable the proxy server if it is used on your PC (use Internet Explorer as
an example):
Right-click Internet Explorer, and choose Internet Properties > Connections > LAN
Settings to open the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings… window.

Deselect Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or
VPN connections) and click OK.

4.2 When multiple types of Internet connections are used simultaneously on my PC, I cannot access the Internet, what should I do?
When multiple types of Internet connections are used simultaneously on the PC, such as
physical network adapter and Wi-Fi, inserting the data card may result in IP address conflict
across multiple networks.
To solve this problem, disable other network devices or disconnect other Internet connections
from the PC, and then restart the PC.
4.3 When the data card is connected to a PC where other network adapters exist, all websites entered in the browser are redirected to the HiLink E3272s-153's homepage, what should I do?
1. Check whether a dial-up connection to the Internet is established using the data card.

2. If no dial-up connection to the Internet is established using the data card, disconnect the data
card or click CONNECT from the HiLink E3272s-153's homepage to set up a dial-up
connection.

4.4 When I open a web page, not all the web page elements are loaded, why?
1. Verify that your PC's system drive has sufficient available space.
If your PC's system drive does not have sufficient available space, a problem may occur in
virtual memory allocation, making you fail to open web pages. Ensure that the system drive
has sufficient space for the virtual memory. If your system drive does not have sufficient
available space, manually clean it up.
2. Exit some applications to free up some random-access memory.
3. Check the current browser settings.
If the browser settings are incorrect or have been modified by Trojan horses, reset the
browser.
The following figure shows how to reset Internet Explorer 8. To reset other browsers, use the
corresponding browser recovery tools.

4.5 When accessing the Internet, the network connection is disconnected abnormally, why?
This may occur if:
� You are out of the network coverage area.
Solution:
1. Access the HiLink E3272s-153's homepage and check the signal strength.
2. If the signal strength is zero, disconnect and reconnect your data card. If the signal strength is
still zero, contact your network operator.

� The server you are visiting encounters problems.
To determine whether the server you are visiting can be connected, do the following:

3. Choose Start > Run, enter cmd, and click OK. In the command-line interface, run ping
www.google.com –t.
4. Use the same method to ping the server you are visiting.
The server you are visiting encounters problems if it cannot be pinged while www.google.com
can.

� The funds in your network service account have been used up.
If your account's funds are used up, the RRC connection between the network and your data
card will be released. The subsequent service requests sent from your data card will be
rejected by the network.
After your account's funds are used up, the PS domain registration will be rejected by the
network if you disconnect and reconnect your data card to your PC.

7 FAQs About Service Failures
7.1 HiLink E3272s-153 indicates that no signal is received, what should I do?
1. Use another data card to determine whether you are in the coverage area of the network.
2. Verify that your PC has recognized your data card.
If you are in the coverage area of the network and your PC has recognized your data card, the
problem may be caused by your data card's failure to find or register with the network.
3. Open SDT and set the messages to be captured.
4. Manually search for networks from HiLink E3272s-153. Wait about two minutes for the data
card to search for networks.
5. If no network is found, use SDT to capture traces, and send the trace files to Huawei's product
service department for analysis.
6. If networks including the target network are found, try to register with the target network. If
the data card fails to register with the target network, use SDT to capture traces, and send the
trace files to Huawei's product service department for analysis.
