1.0 BACKGROUND Area breakdown and procedures for the identification of equipment are fundamental requirements for the preparation of PFD’s, C&ID’s, Single line Diagrams and P&ID’s. Anglo Base Metals (ABM) has defined specific policies for asset management and optimisation of the operations, which require these procedures and structures to be in line and compatible with the software currently used by ABM (Ellipse). These structures and procedures may also be used for the development of the cost structure and schedule for the project. 2.0 OBJECTIVES This document defines the relevant criteria and procedures to be applied in the process engineering activities during the feasibility study. As the study progress it is likely that this document will be modified to accommodate the up-dates and the contributions from the engineering contractor. 3.0 STRUCTURE This document is structured as follows:

Area Break Down Identification of Equipment and Components Identification of Piping Material Codes Mechanical Equipment Code (Mine) Mechanical Equipment Code (Smelter) General Electrical Equipment Code Instrumentation and Control Code Maintenance Code Materials of construction Code Fluids Code

Area Breakdown The project is divided into physical areas according to the following structure, which is based on the following criteria:

1. The breakdown is primarily based on the concept of “physical area”, as universally accepted 2. For these cases with parallel lines, the above concept may be superseded by the “line concept”,

which is a Ellipse requirement as to properly account for individual cost for a given line 3. The breakdown includes three levels in order to accommodate the comments from SL-Miner 4. Exceptions are applicable to the Mine, where functional criteria replaces the physical area

concept 5. Other exceptions have been introduced as to facilitate the common use of the area breakdown

structure in the work breakdown structure (WBS)

3.2 Identification of equipments and components for P&ID or C&ID This structure is made of 17 positions and it is applicable for mechanical and electrical equipment in the P&ID or C&ID files.

The identification of the equipment, its components and peripheral items will be made according to the following criteria: The above fields will be filled in as follows: AREA – according to the Area Breakdown – item 3.1 EQUIP – according to the following codes:

Mechanical Equipment Code (Smelter) – item 3.7 Electrical Equipment Code – item 3.8 (Just to identify equipments or

components belongs to automation area, like control panels, local panels, plc’s,remote I/O’s and etc)

SEQUENCE 1 – sequential numbering within a given area and a given type of equipment SUF – suffix “A” is applied for the main unit and “R” is applied to the spare unit COMPONENT – according to the following codes (just to Mechanical Equipments):

Instrumentation and Control Code – ISA – item 3.5 (Following the ISA code even the code is not included in the table)

SEQUENCE 2 – sequential numbering within the given complement Notes:

• All manual valves installed on pipelines or process intake (pressure gauges block valves, pressure switch block valves and etc) will not be tagged at P&ID.

• Manual or automatic valves installed on the silos discharge and ducts shall be considered as mechanical equipments, and will be tagged according examples number 6.

• Automatic valves that don’t fill the above requirements, i.e instrumentation valves such as shut-off valves, control valves, pilot valves and inline solenoid valves, should be tagged according examples number 4.

EXAMPLES OF APPLICATION Example 1 – The level switch high installed on the second conveyor belt in the Primary Crushing

Example 2 – The emergency switch of the second conveyor belt in the Primary Crushing
