History of Family Residence Was founded by city of Toronto (1968) in downtown Toronto Committed to providing safe shelter with quality support services As well as committed to provide community outreaches to clients It is one of the largest shelter systems for people in need to stay, no matter if it is a two-parent or single parent family with children, couples and pregnant women with a partner 4. Qualifications to apply for this agency Must be citizen or permanent resident Has been evicted by landlord Homeless Family crisis Last resortReference from Family Residence handout and interview 5. Support Systems Provided Counselling Childrens programs Pregnancy support program Housing and help after moving in, Workshops about housing readiness, Life skills and career advice are available to families through family residence. 7. Children Support Provide service form 0-18 years-old Full-day care from Monday to Friday 7:00 am- 6:00 pm Part-time care: 2 times a week and three hours a day. Summer time form Monday to Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm 8. Financial Support 7.5 dollars per person a day to those people who didnt apply for Ontario work and have no other incomes. Transition into Society Extra support for families with addictions (drugs) Help families deal with landlord Prefer helping families then letting them living in the Family Residence 16. Living at a Family Residence 138 people living in the residence (as of Sept 25, 2013) Maximum stay is three months Does not provide food for families Provides utensils for family 20. Small Room: 2 Beds, Fridge, TV, Bathroom and Microwave Large Room: 3 Double, 2 Bulk bed, Crib (at least 10 people) 21.
