Love God...Love Others...Serve The World It’s that me of year again for GMV to gear up for another season of fall discipleship. We have some excing and new things happening this fall that the pastors and staff believe have the potenal to propel us forward in God’s desire for this church to reach the community. Please read through the informaon below and spread the word about the amazing things God is doing in your church. FX – Family Experience: This is a new ministry of GMV focusing on equipping the family to beer follow Jesus together. We want to emphasize that the term “Family” in Family Experience doesn’t mean just our tradional understandings of family. It may be that you are a part of a single parent home, there may be no children in your home, you may be a grandparent raising children, you may be single, you may be hundreds of miles away from your family. Whatever the case may be, you are a part of the GMV family, and even greater sll the Family of God. On the first Wednesday of every month all generaons of the church will come together under one roof (the gym). For that night, there will be no age specific ministries. All ages, and all congregaons will share God’s amazing love together. The first FX is Sept 6 from 6:30 – 7:30. There will be a meal from 5:30 – 6:30. You will be able to make reservaons for that on Sunday September 3 or Monday September 4 by noon by calling the church office. Classes: Classes will begin on Wednesday evening August 23. The me for all classes to meet will be flexible this year. The standard start me for classes has been 6:30 and that can sll be the case. However, If classes choose to meet earlier (as early as 5pm) that will be perfectly fine. There will be a full lisng of all classes, their descripons and informaon about how to join a class available at the church on Sunday, July 30 and online by July 31. Tribes: Tribes will begin on Wednesday August 23 as well. This year we won’t be selecng Tribe membership for people. We want people to choose the Tribe they will be in and have the freedom even to start their own tribe. If you believe God may be leading you to host, facilitate, or both, in Tribe ministry this year, please pick up one of our Tribe brochures at the church. There you will find more informaon about what it means to be a Tribe leader and informaon about how to start your own Tribe. Joining a Tribe this year will be as easy as contacng a Tribe leader (informaon about Tribe leadership will be made available by the second week of August) or contacng pastor Jake at the church office. Wednesday Night Meal – This year we are trying something new. We will only be having a meal prepared by the church on the nights we have FX (Family Experience). A couple of reasons for this are we are losing money each semester that we do it. This tells us that there aren’t enough people in our church that have interest in a meal every Wednesday. Another reason, our desire to be more flexible with our midweek ministries and our belief that God wants us to pour all the resources we can into the meal served before FX. We believe the benefits to be numerous. For example, Classes and Tribes, that will be meeng on the 2 nd , 3 rd , and 4 th Wednesday’s will have more flexibility in when they can meet. Classes and Tribes can choose to break bread together on some Wednesday evenings. Aſter all, this reflects the importance of Chrisans in community sharing a meal together. Our prayer is that we can all enter into this new season of ministry in unity. God has blessed this congregaon with tremendous leadership who believes that this format puts this congregaon into the best posion to capitalize on our mission of making disciples for the transformaon of the world. AUGUST SERMON SERIES

“Is it hard to reconcile God’s forgiveness with His

justice? What about a balanced view of God’s

sovereignty and God’s love? What about God’s rules

as opposed to freedom in Christ? The Pharisees, most

of whom were good leaders, had trouble understand-

ing God revealed in Jesus Christ. It caused them to

do some terrible things. Join us on Sunday mornings

as Pastor Steve will look at how these struggles apply

to our lives today in his August sermon series,

“The Trouble With the Pharisees.”

New Classes & Tribes KICK OFF Wednesday, August 23

Pick up a brochure of all the new Classes & Tribes at any welcome desk on Sunday, July 30 or visit our website.

Beginning August 23, Pastor Steve will be offering a class called Senior Connection at 5:30pm in the Chapel on Wednesday evenings (except for FX Night).

This is a time where our Senior Adults can connect with our Senior Pastor.
