More than 42 million people in the United States, and 1 in 5 children, are living under the official poverty line. Over 20 million students are receiving free or reduced breakfast and lunch in public schools across America, and those are the only meals some of these children will receive. Lack of nutrition and proper living arrangements affect schooling and workplace productivity, continuing the cycle. A shift in hearts and focus is needed to combat this epidemic.
