Engaging Students with Poverty in Mind - Eric Jensen

Read the introduction (if you choose) and chapter one.

Which of the 7 factors pose the strongest challenge for you and your school?

Can you envision overcoming these challenges? Explain your reasoning.

Have you already recognized and attempted to address any of these factors on your school? Have you felt successful?

How can you use this resource with your Title I staff (and all staff)?

Homeless Updates & Review

Q: If a student experiencing homelessness attends a school that does not receive Title I, Part A funds, how does the student receive services?

A: Every school district that receives Title IA funds is required to set aside a portion of its allotment to provide comparable services to homeless students attending schools that do not receive Title IA services

Q: What kind of services can Title I, Part A funds (including set-asides and other funds) pay for?

or a new 5-year contract as an AGR school

AGR schools have the option of maintaining classroom ratios, providing one-to-one tutoring for students, or providing instructional coaching to teachers

More guidance to come
