Reflexive verbs (p.16-17)
What do you see when you look in the mirror? You see YOURSELF! Your reflexion!
That is what a reflexive verb shows. The subject of the verb is doing an action to himself.
We have a couple of examples of this in English. Compare the reflexive form of the verb with the non-reflexive form.
How is the meaning changed?
Reflexive Non- Reflexive

I made myself a bowl of soup. I made a bowl of soup. You hurt yourself on the jungle gym. You hurt Arturo on the jungle gym.
Many verbs in Spanish are reflexive. As you learn these new verbs, be sure to learn them with the SE at the end so you
will remember the subject is doing the action to himself.
6
