Fall Commencement Thank you
Ferris State UniversityDecember Commencement - 2017
Jennifer Stevens and I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you for
all your hard work and dedication that made the Commencement
ceremonies amemorable experience for our graduates, their families,
and their friends. In terms of numbers, 516 Students and 123
Faculty participated in thetwo December 2017 Commencement
ceremonies. A few special thanks are in order:
· President Eisler, the Provost and other Vice Presidents,
Deans, Faculty and Board of Trustees for their enthusiastic
participation.
· Jennifer Stevens, our Commencement Coordinator, did an amazing
job once again. She demonstrated wonderful problem-solving
skillsand the ability to remain calm during the entire day.
· Terri Cook for the great job she does of preparing our scripts
for each ceremony. She is able to make changes with the greatest of
ease.
· Jason Daday for his coordination of the countless arrangements
and details - the big and seemingly small – that make
Commencementso special to the everyone who participates.
· The many men and women of the Grounds, Custodial, Physical
Plant and Moving Crews, and their supervisors, for always doing
a
fantastic job. We could not run Commencement without you. They
include: Tom Potrykus, Travis Palmer, Corky Hollister,
GaryChesebro, Randy Snavley, Darin Nelson, Scott Kosaski, Jeff
Cammenga, Cosimo Bongiorno, Rob Doering, Rick Fountain,

· The Ferris Department of Public Safety officers who are
crucial to the success of Commencement include Director Bruce

a fabulous job keeping the traffic flowing in the snowy weatherare:
Cadets Jason Burge and Ben Snyder, and Student Service officers
Samantha Spring and Chris Dysinger
· Nick Campau, Deb Ducat, Mallory Ford, Mary Kay MacIver, Sam
Fattore, Kathy Lake, Rachael Jones, Charlotte Tetsworth,Mitzi Day,
Melanie Mulder, Jacob Schrot, Elise Gramza, Jacob Jackson, Olivia
Jackson, Joy Pufhal, Kevin Carmody, JessicaDavison, Lisa Weiler and
Jeff Stewart for doing such a professional job of handling all the
things that come up and need to be takencare of during the course
of the two ceremonies.
· Carri Franklund and Megan Ringquist for all of their great
work preparing for the faculty receptions and providing the festive
food
that sustained everyone through the day on Saturday.
· The students of the Student Alumni Gold Club and their advisor
Kevin Bunce, for consistently doing such an amazing job as ushers.
You are all a credit to Ferris State University. Watching you all
set the chairs between the ceremonies is an incredible sight.
· The College Commencement Coordinators, Richelle Williams, Barb
Hampel, Carri Griffis, Shannon Yost, Jennie Stange, Deb
Ducat, Kathy Hotz, and their helpers for making sure their
students are properly checked-in. Thank you also for your hard
workthroughout the year preparing for Commencement.

the information table and driving the shuttle vans for our

skills and great presentations from the podium.
· The Marshals, Mary Murnik, Nathan Leatherman, Jean Inabinett
and Mary Beaudry for leading the students and faculty into
WinkArena.
· The Mace Bearers, Michael Ryan and Kathryn Wolfer for leading
the Presidential Party into Wink Arena.
· Karen Huisman for coordinating the Board of Trustees
Commencement-related activities.
· The outstanding Mount Pleasant Brass Quintet for providing
such beautiful music during Commencement. Jingle all the way!
· Rachel Schumann for her wonderful job of singing the national
anthem and Ferris Fidelity.
· Steve Cox, Pat Tobin, and Wes Thompson and their students,
Timothy Quinlan, Andy CeCe, and Danielle Will for always doing
such a great job with the video and for their general
assistance.
· Heawon Oh, Jacob Stidwell and Hannah Crouch for taking such
wonderful Commencement pictures and videos.
· Christa Bull, Anne Hogenson, and Elise Gramza for doing such a
great job with the Commencement Program.
· Karen Bohren and her staff at the Lundberg Barnes & Noble
Bookstore for their ongoing cooperation and support. · Craig Wotta,
Tim Blashill, Linda Bomar, and their students, Tucker Spranger,
Trevor Balfour, and Jake Morey at the Ewigleben
Sports Complex. Thank you all again for making the December 2017
Commencement ceremonies memorable for ourstudents and their
