As The Master’s University prepares for the Fall semester, we want to express our confidence in the

sovereignty of God and His ongoing plan for The Master’s University. This historical moment is a time for

confidence, not fear, for prudence, not carelessness, and for wisdom, not recklessness. Guided by our love

for God and others, and with a commitment to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly, we here outline

guidance for our new and returning international students.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Q: Will the Fall 2020 semester be held in person?

A: Yes. In-person classes will return this fall. For more information about TMU’s fall plans, please see

President Sam Horn’s bi-weekly updates at masters.edu/coronavirus.

Q: I will be arriving from an international location for the Fall 2020 semester. How does this

impact my arrival?

A: Currently, the CDC recommends a 14-day quarantine for travelers coming into the United States

from any other country. Students arriving from outside of the United States may be mandated to

quarantine for 14 days after arrival in the United States, but it is currently only recommended. This is

subject to change based on CDC guidelines.

Q: When is the deadline for international students to arrive on campus?

A: First year international students should arrive no later than August 20th. This is the first day of the

International Orientation (Passport to Master’s). If you are coming from outside the United States and

you will be in quarantine, you may need to arrive August 6th in order to quarantine before the start of

the semester. Please contact your advisor for details about quarantine requirements, or if you plan on

arriving later than August 20th.

Returning international students need to arrive on campus no later than August 26th. If you are

coming from outside the United States and will be in quarantine, you may need to arrive August 12th

in order to quarantine before the start of the semester. Please contact your advisor for details about the

quarantine requirements, or if your plans cause you to arrive late.

Students who need additional financial assistance due to travel changes or quarantine requirements

may contact their advisor.

Q: For students that have to self-quarantine, will TMU provide lodging in the dorms?

A: Any student who arrives on campus at their pre-determined times (August 20th for new students;

continuing students on August 26th) and are required to quarantine will be able to quarantine in their

rooms. International travelers who arrive before their predetermined times may need to find their own

accommodations, and we are currently working on financial assistance. Contact your advisor for

information on availability of on-campus lodging.

Q: Will international students have to pay for the cost of housing and meals off campus during

the quarantine?

A: TMU is developing a relief and aid program to provide financial assistance to international students

who need to quarantine before arriving on campus.

Q: What if an international student can’t return to campus until August 26th? Will he have to

miss the first two weeks of class to self-quarantine?

A: Any student, international or national, who must self quarantine and is not able to attend class in

person will be able to participate remotely until the quarantine period ends.

Q: If I’m an international student but I am unable to return to campus because of visa restrictions

or health concerns, can I still take my classes remotely?

A: TMU has been closely monitoring updates from the DHS, ICE, CDC, and US Department of State

concerning remote education requirements for foreign nationals. As of today, international students

should not face many limitations entering the United States. If this is an issue, remote learning is an

option.

able to request an extension of on-campus residence. Additionally, TMU has invited our greater

community to host an international student in their home as needed, either for an amount of time until

they are able to get on a flight home. No student will be left stranded regardless of the campus situation.
