Orientation Registration/Check- In (M) 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Orton Center All students check-in between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to confirm arrival, verify documents are in order and receive their student ID which is also their meal card. Orientation Registration/Check- In (M) 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Orton Center

Johnston Welcome Circle and Reception 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Orton Center

Attention Johnson students, families, faculty, and staff. The Welcome Circle is a funky, fun opening ritual with greetings from the Johnston director, faculty, staff, and students! Afterward, stick around for some light refreshments and conversation.

Student-Athlete Orientation 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. University Hall

Mandatory meeting for all new student-athletes who plan to participate in any one of the Bulldog intercollegiate athletic varsity teams. Come and listen to a panel of current Bulldog student-athletes who will share insights about their experience and answer your questions regarding academic and athletic balance, eligibility, communication with faculty, time management, meal plans, student employment, and much more. *Student-athletes who are also Johnston students should attend the Johnston Welcome Circle then attend the Student-Athlete Orientation.

President's Welcome Reception 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Casa Loma Room

Stop by and meet President Ralph Kuncl and other University administrators at this casual reception. All new students, families, and guests are invited. No formal schedule. Light refreshments will be served.

Class Photo and Convocation Procession 5:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Administration Building Steps

New students find your Orientation Leaders on the Administration Building steps, snap your class photo, and let Redlands know you are here with the Och Tamale Yell! Then you’ll walk across the quad to your President’s Convocation with your incoming class to the Chapel. Casual dress for this event.

President's Welcome Convocation (M) 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Memorial Chapel

This event serves as the official induction of the Class of 2023. Everyone is invited, students will be seated first – families are invited to cheer the student as they enter the Chapel. University of Redlands' President Ralph Kuncl will be the featured speaker. *Note: this program will be shown via Live Stream in the Casa Loma Room.

Dinner with Families 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Enjoy dinner on your own in downtown Redlands or the Table at Irvine Commons. If you will be eating off campus, we encourage reservations ahead of time and view “Local Dining” section on the R App for some of our local favorite eateries.

Hypnotist Show 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Memorial Chapel

All are welcome to join us for a highly entertaining and hilarious show starring you and your family and peers (if you are brave enough to volunteer and lucky enough to be selected!).

A student's success is dependent on the sources of support that surround them, and how that support is used to grow confidence and capacity, particularly in their first year. The University Dean of Students, Dr. Donna Eddleman, will share her perspective, provide some foundational expectations of the partnership we endeavor to cultivate with families and challenge those attending to think about how they will provide support in this new environment.

Legacy Lunch 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Casa Loma Room

Alumni & Community Relations is hosting a lunch for legacy students and their families! (A legacy is an incoming student who has someone in their family who attended the UR.) Meet with fellow legacy families and hear about the history of the university from Historian and Vice-Chair of the University's Board of Trustees, Larry Burgess ‘67. You must register to attend, if you have not registered, please call Alumni & Community Relations, 909-748-8011.

Languages and Math Placement Consultations 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Jones Computer Center

Interviews for students continuing with Chinese, French or German will take place on a first-come, first-served basis. Interviews for Spanish; students will be assigned a specific testing time through their FYS. Please come for your interview at your designated slot. Students who need to take a calculus placement test were instructed to do so online during the summer. Students with AP Calculus scores should meet with Math faculty to determine math placement. All other students are placed by SAT/ACT math scores. If you have any additional questions, need AP Calculus placement, or were not able to complete the placement test before arrival on campus, you may seek assistance from math faculty at this time.

Afternoon Academic Workshops Each workshop repeats three times, each student must attend a minimum of two sessions. *RSVP for sessions via the “R” app.

Learn about all that Academic Success & Disability Services (ASDS) has to offer to support your academic success. This workshop will cover academic skills workshops, the College Success Strategies class, subject tutoring, peer mentoring, and other resources.

Learn how to use the academic planning features on the Self Service portal to search for courses and plan your schedule. This workshop will cover general education requirements, key deadlines, and the requirements for different majors/minors.

Learn how to be a successful writer in college and beyond! This workshop will introduce you to the resources available in the Writing Center, writing tutors, and courses you can take to strengthen your skills across the curriculum.

Rec Fun on the Sand Courts 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Outdoor Volleyball Sand and Basket Courts

Join Recreation for some Volleyball, Basketball, Lawn & Board Games, and good ol’ fashioned fun. We will set up shop on the Outdoor Basketball/Volleyball courts with board games on the first floor of Hunsaker from 4:00pm-6: 00 pm. Intramurals and SIS will provide all the equipment along with some cold snacks and beverages. You can also use this opportunity to sign up for our upcoming Intramural Sports.

How you compete for community and campus leadership positions, graduate school, and professional opportunities? This session will highlight the various ways Career and Professional Development can help you maximize your potential at the University of Redlands and beyond.

Och Tamale Live is a student adapted sketch comedy show that is sure to make you laugh. The show explores the many thrills and hurdles to becoming a U of R student and will explore the theme of inclusion, independent/creative thinking, and honest self-reflection. Come join us to learn some helpful campus information and get some laughs while taking it all in!

Errand Express to Citrus Plaza 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Memorial Chapel Steps

Shuttles depart periodically from the Chapel steps and take students to Citrus Plaza, a shopping center where you can shop at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kohl's and several other well-known stores. Your student ID is required to board the shuttle.
