Diverse stamp programme in 2017.

The theme for this year’s Europa stamps is Castles, and the Royal Palace and Akershus Castle are the motifs on the Norwegian stamps. The UCI Road World Championships are being held in western Norway and Norway Post is issuing two stamps to commemorate the event. In 2017 we celebrate 100 Years Serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and the Norwegian Association for the Deaf is turning 100 in 2018. Two stamps that are being issued in November will celebrate these milestones. Also, note that the issue in June will be on the 16th, and not on the 9th as previously announced.

Also this year we will offer two beautiful stamps engraved by the hand of Sverre Morken.

The stamp Year 2017 will offer many exciting themes, including royal motifs, city anniversary, the UCI Road World Championships and Norwegian cars. See the full stamp programme on page 2.

The first two stamps of the year were already issued on 2 January. Viggo Ree is once again the artist behind these two beautiful bird motifs.

Tråante means “Trondheim” in southern Sami language, and Tråante 2017 is the name of the 100th anniversary of the first international congress for the Sami people in Trondheim. Sami artist Astrid Båhl has designed the stamps. Båhl is also the artist behind the Sami flag. The stamps were issued on the Sami National Day, 6 February, and this is the first time the word “Norway” appears in Sami language on stamps.

Both King Harald and Queen Sonja turn 80 in 2017. However, this is not stopping them from both continuing to pursue very active lives. The stamps depict the King and Queen in their free time, the King on his sailboat and the Queen on a walk in Lofoten. Both stamps will be issued on 21 February and are designed by Gina Rose.
