Clay Ellingson, Pastor 1303 24th Avenue S. Moorhead, MN 56560 (218) 233-3941 It is the mission of Faith Lutheran Church: To gather prayerfully as the Body of Christ; To grow in faith, love, and service; To go into the world joyfully as disciples. Sunday School, 9:00 a.m. Sunday Worship 10:00 a.m. Holy Communion on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month. Coffee Fellowship February Food Pantry Item: Soup Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ; The Lenten season is upon us. This year at Faith Lutheran we will be using resources to help us reflect more deeply on what it means to be the church in a world that in many ways feels like it has less and less need for the church. We will think deeply about: “Does being the church matter? If it does, why and how do we as members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America make a dif- ference in the world?” We will focus on five different emphases of what it means to be the church. We are church. We are Lutheran. We are church together. We are church for the sake of the world. We are church in relationship with ecumenical partners. (other Christian churches and organizations.) We will draw from scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, contemporary theo- logical resources and the reflections of participants as we consider together what it means to be the church today. So come and be a part of the learning process. For many this is what the Lenten season is about: “The Lenten season seems to have developed as a period of learning with a focus on what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.” And being a follower of Jesus Christ means that we are part of the whole Christian church. We will be using once again the Holden Evening Prayer as our music and liturgy for our Wednesday evening services. The tradition of serving a light supper before the service will continue but with families serving. So come and be a part of learning and growing together. Peace, Pastor Ellingson

The Lenten season is upon us. This year at Faith Lutheran we will be using
resources to help us reflect more deeply on what it means to be the church in a
world that in many ways feels like it has less and less need for the church. We
will think deeply about: “Does being the church matter? If it does, why and how
do we as members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America make a dif-
ference in the world?” We will focus on five different emphases of what it
means to be the church.
We are church.
We are Lutheran.
We are church together.
We are church for the sake of the world.
We are church in relationship with ecumenical partners. (other Christian
churches and organizations.)
We will draw from scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, contemporary theo-
logical resources and the reflections of participants as we consider together
what it means to be the church today. So come and be a part of the learning
process. For many this is what the Lenten season is about: “The Lenten season
seems to have developed as a period of learning with a focus on what it means
to be a follower of Jesus Christ.” And being a follower of Jesus Christ means
that we are part of the whole Christian church.
We will be using once again the Holden Evening Prayer as our music and
liturgy for our Wednesday evening services. The tradition of serving a light
supper before the service will continue but with families serving. So come and
be a part of learning and growing together.
Peace,
Pastor Ellingson

Volunteer to Serve Lenten Supper—
Suppers will once again be served prior to
Wednesday Lenten Services beginning
February 25. This year we are asking for
volunteers to prepare and serve the meal.
One can plan on serving between 25 and 30
people each week. An free-will offering will be taken each
meal to defray the expense of preparing the meal. This has
been a great time of fellowship in the past. Please sign-up your
family or ask a friend to help you. The sign-up sheet is on the
bulletin board. The meal will be served from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m.
with service beginning at 7:15.
