FDSC members along with Waterford Senior Citizens took a bus trip to Jackson for a tour through the historic Jackson prison. First we went to downtown theatre where the tour guides gave us stories of the first Jackson prison which was renovated into apartments. Then we went to Cell Block 7 and the tour guide took us through step by step when prisoners are first punished and sent to prison. Very scary! After a catered lunch we went to a prison gift shop and one of the tour guide invited us to her apartment, the first Jackson prison. After having supper at Cracker Barrel, we headed back
to Waterford and back home! It was a very interesting trip!
For more information on the tour, visit www.historicprisontours.com.
Seven FDSC members, Virginia Moore , Maxine Lakosky, Kathy Eikey, Phyllis Christensen, Janet Deschler, Nancy and Lonnie Leonard joined the Swartz Creek Seniors on a bus trip to a
Maple Syrup Festival in Shephard. After arriving at Shepherd High School, we had a delicious pancake breakfast. There was also a craft show in the gym and hallways. Very nice! Then we got back on the bus for Soaring Eagle Casino. We all received a $15.00 voucher and Virginia was the only one who won $136.00 without paying a cent! It was an enjoyable trip!

It was presented at the recent Quilt for a Day at FAD by Deaf Quilters United along with Flint Deaf Quilters and Deaf Quilter’s Block plus a few friends. The blocks were made by the participants at the Bear Lake Quilt Retreat. It was spearheaded by Barbara Miller and Sonja Miller.
About 50 people attended the Hawaiian Luau at FAD. A good time was had by all. Ricky Kaufman and Steve Gemmill had us in stitches during their dance contest. The video of their dance can be found on Stevie Naeyaert’s YouTube page.
Rosie Switras and Jules Chapko coordinated an AMAZING “ASL Power!” show
at Baker Flint and Madonna University. Peggy Gelaude’s daughter, Jenny Berrigan and Mark & Stevie Naeyaert’s son, Tyler Naeyaert were the performers along with several other local deaf actors. Funds from the show will go towards next year’s show “Dea'ood Monologues” written by Ella Mae Lentz. Don’t miss THAT one!
