The selection criterion for the admission in Ph.D programme are asunder

(i) An Entrance Test shall be qualifying with qualifying marks as50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% ofresearch methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.

(iv) The candidates who qualify the IJGC-NIi'l' (lnclr.rding .f R1:; tl(i('CSIR NET (Including JRF) SLRT/ GATEiGPAT with a valid score in terms

of cut-off marks and duration, teacher fellowship holder or who have passed

M.Phil programme shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test and

deemed to be qualified for personal interview.

3.4 The interviewlviva-voce shall also consider the following aspects.

3.5 On the recommendation of the Deparrmental Resettrch ('ornnritlct'

notice board / website of the University,

However, the final admission will be given afler getting eligibilityas per the provisions of the relevant regulations of the University.

3.6 The allocation of Research Supervisor for a selected research scholar

shall be decided by the Department Research Committee depending on

the number of scholars per Research Supervisor, the available

specialization among the Supervisors and research intercsts of thc

scholars as indicated bv them at the time ot'intcrvie\\"/\'iva t occ

In case of other high quality journals, not available in the above listeddatabases, the Director General may relax the above condition on

recommendations of a Committee constituted by the Director Ccncralwith two external experts (designation equivalent to a Prof'essor orabove) and one Professor of the concerned institute/deoartment/area as

the members.

5.7 A Ph.D. scholar has to obtain a minimum of 55o/o of n-rarks or itsequivalent grade in the UGC 7-point scale in the course work in orderto be eligible to continue in the programme and submit the thesis.

A Ph.D scholar has to obtain a minimum of Cl grade in each courseand minimum CPI 6.00 in order to be elieible to continue in theprogramme.

The CPI is the ratio of sum of the product of the number ol'crcditswith the grade points scored by a student in all the courses takcn b1

a student and the sum of the number of credits of all the coursesundergone by a student i.e.cPI: I(Ci X Gi) /ICiWhere Ci is the number of credits of the ith course and Gi the gradepoint scored by the student in the ith course. After successfully completing the course work, within thrce months.the Research scholar will be required to develop a comprehensiveresearch proposal under the guidance of his/hcr Rescarch Supcrtisorand will be examined by Research Advisory Committee (RAC) and onthe recommendation of the committee, the final shape of the researchproposal along with tentative title of the topic of research shall bcdecided.

Minor changes in the tojric can be done by the Research Scholar onrecommendations of Research Advisory Committee before submissionof the synopsis

If the RAC is satisfied with the pre-synopsis seminar of the researchscholar, the supervisor shall forward the application along withsynopsis of the research scholar including a certificate about thecompletion of the pre-synopsis seminar to thc Dxccutii,c l{cgistrarthrough the Dean, Faculty of Doctoral Studies & Research

(i): The research scholar shall have to/ submit the thesis withinmaximum of 6 (six) months from the date of submission of synopsis.o Howerrer, there should be minimum gap of 30 days between the dateof submission of the synopsis and the thesis.

(ii) The research scholar has to publish at least one research paper inrefereed journal and make two paper presentations in D reputednational/international conferences/seminars before the submission ofthe thesis for evaluation and produce evidenoc for the sartre irr thcform of presentation certificates andlor reprints.

A copy will be sent to the INFLIBNE'I'before the announcement of the award of the Ph,D. degree. 'fhe thesisshall contain an account of the research work carried out by, theresearch scholar leading to the discovery of new facts or techniclucs ornew correlations of scientific facts already known, the work bcing otsuch quality that it makes a definite contribution to the advanccnrentof knowledge

If the two external referees ask for certain clarifications before givingtheir recommendation, the internal referee may get in touch with tlieresearch scholar to obtain the required information, and communicatethe same to the external referees. In such cases, where the externalreferees reserve their recommendations and internal referee mayforward all the reports including that of the viva-voce. to theExecutive Registrar who in turn will submit one document to thcFaculty of Doctoral Studies and Research firr flnal resonrnrenclationand on such recommendation, the Academic Council vr,ill takc flnaldecision.

In case of difference of opinion between the two experts referees, theDirector General shall appoint from the list rccommendcd b1 thcCouncil, a third external referee. If third external referee finds thcthesis unacceptable, no viva-voce will be held and the thesis bcrejected. In case the third external referee considers that there is a

prima-facie case for the award of the degree, the viva-voce test ofresearch scholar shall be held at which the external referee who is infavour of the acceptance of thesis will be present.

Provided further that when it is decided to appoint third externalreferee the copies of the reports of both the refbrees, f'avourable as

well as adverse, be sent to the third referee for his perusal, withoutdisclosing the identity of the said both referees.

Where no internal referee is appointed, the Dean, F'aculty of DoctoralStudies and Research will anange the viva-voce exarninariorr witlr thehelp of at least one of the two external ref'erees.

All reports of the Board of Referees and the report of the viva-voce asapproved by the Academic Council shall be submitted to the Board o1'

Governors for approval and on the approval of the Board the Degreewill be awardedPrior to the actual awardof the degree, a provisional Certificate to theeffect that the Degree has been awarded in accordance with theprovisions of UGC Regulations, 2016 be issued. (Annexure -lll)Normally the University shall ensure the completion of tne processof evaluation of the thesis within a period ot'six nronth ll'orn thc dateof its submission.
