The course covers key areas of expert knowledge and research in hospitality industry. It gives an overview of the industry for junior students in the modules «The Structure of Modern Hospitality Industry» and «Service Characteristics and Consumer Behaviour» and develops in the spring semester into «Destination Branding in Tourism» and «Marketing in hospitality Industry». The last part of the course is aimed at senior students(fall semester) and gives in-depth analysis of such issues as «Cross-cultural Communication» and «Modern Trends in Hospitality Industry». The course is devoted to the analysis of the structure and modern technologies used in the international media industry. As part of the course, leading modern theories and practices of media are studied. The course is built as a system of cases that most vividly characterize the modern media industry. Case analysis is based on an integrated approach, accompanied by the study of the necessary theoretical material and discussion.
This course is aimed at developing skills of reading professional literature in English. During the course, students-historians will get acquainted with modern trends in development of Western historical science and gain skills of discussing and writing scientific texts in English. As a result, students will be able to conduct a discussion in English at a professional level, master the skills of writing academic texts in English, master professional terminology and study modern Western historiography. The development of spoken language will also contribute to the further communication of students in English in their further professional activities.

The course introduces students to studying communication geography as the newest communication studies applied subdiscipline (Falkenheimer and Janson, 2006). Conceptually the course is based on the consrtuctionist approach to communication and on investigating the ‘spacial communicagtion practices’. Topics are purposed to a row of the issues, concerning socail environment of communication actors activities, figuring out space and regional boundaries and interactions, space communication stereotypes, mediatization at urbanization and counter-urbanization processes, placemaking, social cohision and mobilities. The course is addressed students who study communications theories and practices (PR & advertising), political science, tourism. Class sessions include lectures and discussions. The course is suggested collaboratively with the scholars and researchers of specialised departments at the National Communication Association (USA) and European Communication and Research Association.
The course is aimed at the formation of students' comprehensive ideas about visual art of the XX-XXI centuries. The sources, characteristics and basic vectors of the development of the theory of visual in film and media will be considered. The course focuses on the formation and development of cinema and film theory since the end of the 19th century. Separately, the construction of the visual language and the basic concepts of visual studies and cinema studies will be considered.

The course is aimed at forming students' comprehensive ideas about the history and theory of visual art in Russia from the Middle Ages to the present days. Attention is concentrated on the origins and evolution of art schools and trends in Russian art. The course is aimed at developing students' systemic knowledge about the aesthetic concepts of Russian art in the Middle Ages, the era of classicism and romanticism, about the schools of realistic art and art nouveau. Particular attention is paid to the Russian avant-garde and the visual culture of the Soviet and post-Soviet periods.
The course is aimed at forming a student's comprehensive ideas about the theory of cultural studies. The course examines the origins and dynamics of cultural research. It also demonstrates in detail modern theoretical concepts, methods of interpretation, analysis and research of cultural artifacts, texts and phenomena.
