– The budget action taken does not repeal the adoption of the CCSS

– The language in PA 59 will pause MDE implementation efforts only until such affirmative action is taken.

Priority, Focus &Reward• 339 schools were identified as Focus, same number as last year:

185 were repeats and 154 were new• 8 schools that were labeled ‘Reward’ last year, are now identified

as Focus. • 37 schools that were identified as Focus last year are now

identified as Reward.• Macomb gained 17 new Focus schools and maintained 12.• Macomb removed 11 Focus schools from the 2013 list and gained

5 new Priority schools at the elementary level.• Macomb maintained one Priority high school.• Macomb had 9 SIG/PLA schools not on the 2013 Priority list. • Macomb regained 1 Priority middle school that was on the 2010

PLA list.• Macomb has 17 Reward Schools on the 2013, one SIG school

Smarter Balanced

• Smarter Balanced recently released Practice Test Phase 2

• SBAC states that Phase 2 updates include expanded accommodations to cover all grades and the addition of mathematics performance tasks and associated scoring rubrics.

Michigan Interim Assessment Project (MIAP)

• 2nd opportunity to participate in the MIAP for Science and Social Studies

• 1st opportunity to participate in the MIAP for grades K-2 in the subjects of ELA and Mathematics.

• This pilot window is October and November.• There will be another opportunity this Spring.
