BORN BETWEEN THE MID 1960’S AND THE EARLY 1980’S.

Events such as The Vietnam War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of the Cold War, and the Thatcher-era government in the UK were events that helped to shape the culture and upbringing of Generation X. Gen X is more open to diversity and has learnt to embrace differences such as religion, sexual orientation, class, race and ethnicity.

PEOPLE BORN BETWEEN THE 1980’S AND THE YEAR 2000

Generation Y has been shaped by the technological revolution that occurred throughout their youth. Gen Y grew up with technology, so being connected and tech savvy is in their DNA. Equipped with latest technology and gadgets, such as iPhones, laptops and lately tablets. Many Millennials grew up seeing their Baby Boomer parents working day and night doing stressful corporate jobs, which has shaped their own views on the workforce and the need for work-life balance.

BORN AFTER THE YEAR 2000

Generation Z are predicted to be highly connected, living in an age of high-tech communication, technology driven lifestyles and prolific use of social media.

According to a poll, 22% of teenagers log on to their favourite social media site more than 10 times a day, and more than half of adolescents log on to a social media site more than once a day. 75% of teenagers now own cell phones, and 25% use them for social media, 54% use them for texting, and 24% use them for instant messaging. (O'Keeffe and Pearson, 2011)
