The CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) License and CFII (Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument) License will allow you to train future aspiring pilots. With a CFI l icense you will be able to teach students from their PPL (Private Pilot License) all the way up to their CPL (Commercial Pilot License).

When you get your CFII rating you will then also be able to teach your students Instrument fl ight to obtain their IR (Instrument Rating). Instructing is an excellent experience and big first step as a professional pilot.

How can I get my Certified Flight Instructor License -CFI and Certified Flight Instrument Instructor CFII License?

Before tak ing the checkr ide to become a Cer t ified Fl ight Instructor in A i rp lanes , you wi l l first need to pass the FAA wr i t ten exams for the FOI (Fundamentals of Instruct ion) and FIA (F l ight Instructor A i rp lanes) at an FAA approved test ing center. You wi l l a lso need to do the FI I wr i t ten (F l ight Instructor - Instrument) for the CFI I rat ing.

03Pass the CheckridesThe practical skill exam is performed in flight with an authorized FAA examiner and can be taken after successful completion of the written tests. You will need to call your local Flight Standards District Office and tell them you would like to schedule the CFI or CFII Checkride and they will provide you the DPE (Designated Pilot Examiner) to be tested with. Be ready to teach what is required by the PTS (Practical Test Standards).
