1. 中国人打电话时总是说“我是 XXX” ,“请问你是……”,但是用英文打电话时很少会说到 I am …, Are you … ,而是应该说 This is …, Is that … 。若是问对方 Who are you? 则会显得非常无礼貌。英语中较常见的表达方式是 Who’s calling/speaking, please? (请问您是哪一位?)
2. 中国人打电话时一般都由打电话方先报姓名,而在英语国家则不然。一般来说,他们拿起话筒会先打招呼,说 Hello ,然后再自报姓名,或是报出自己的电话号码,不会让对方去猜。如: Hello, this is Dan speaking.(你好,我是丹。) Hello, 3401-4255. (你好,这里是 3401-4255 。)
3. 通话时,如果接电话的人恰巧是要找的人,一般会说 Speaking 或 This is Mark speaking. (我就是马克。)如果要找的人碰巧不在,接电话的人也常会主动提出 May I take a message for you? (我能帮你捎个口信吗?)
