BACKGROUNDER Faculty of Health Disciplines • New Doctoral Programs Suite July 4, 2019 AU’s Faculty of Health Disciplines is taking the steps to offer a suite of five doctoral programs, building on current master’s and post-master’s degree programs. These doctoral programs respond to growing societal, health care and learner needs for advanced credentials in the health disciplines. The programs will be offered digitally and in community, removing many of the time-and-place barriers inherent in traditional doctoral programs. FHD proposes to offer five new doctoral programs: § Doctoral Studies in Health: Post Masters Certificate (DSH: PMC) § Doctor of Health Studies (DHS) § Doctor of Nursing (DN) § Doctor of Psychology (DPsych) § Doctor of Philosophy in Health Disciplines (PhD) PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT TIMELINE — currently in the due diligence phase. Many approvals are outside FHD’s control; however, the goal is to offer the Doctoral Studies in Health: Post Masters Certificate in 2021, followed by the professional doctorates and PhD one year later.

CLINICALPRACTICE—AUisdevelopinganewwayofconsideringhowinternshipscanworkbetterforlearners,includingexploringhowavirtualinternshipmightfitintheCanadianlandscape.
