eZ-Mall Guide: Test Protocol 3/2/2009 Usability testing 1 Usability test script “Thank you for participating in this usability study. We are in the process of designing an interface for an application that provides mall information to patrons. It would also show your current position on the map. The mall information consists of store directory information, generating favorite lists of stores etc. On selecting a store in the directory the EZ mall guide would highlight it for you on the map relative to your current position. I hope you do understand we are not testing you but the application. You would be helping us find problems that may have escaped our attention. During the usability test we would be asking you to complete four tasks that we would give to you in writing. For this exercise we are going to use a paper mock-up of the interface. We would like you to use just like you would use an interface on a mobile information aide like PDA. Also during the task we would like you to think out aloud, in terms of what you are doing, information you are looking for, what you want to do etc. This would help us to capture the task process. When you find something or receive confirmation of your action we would like you to tap on it to acknowledge finding/seeing it/ or say you are done. When you make a selection on a screen and if you find a page that says under construction, just hit the back button and we would walk you through from there.” Usability tasks 1.
