Anthem is a great place to live! Since you are reading this, you probably already live here and already know that. If you aren’t living here, you should be! The sense of community in Anthem is unmatched anywhere in the valley. Whether hanging out at one of the parks, swimming at the community center, playing golf at the club or attending one of the many community events, it won’t take long to discover that it’s the people of Anthem that make it special.

Outside of the social aspect, I have never seen a town that works so hard to help their neighbors in need. The charity and support that takes place in this town are some of the most heart-warming acts of giving that I have ever witnessed.

On March 1st, Hands Across An-them will host a Color Dash 5k at the Anthem Community Park. All SURFHHGV� RI� WKH� IXQ� UXQ� ZLOO� EHQH¿W�Hands Across Anthem, a 501(c)3 non profit that raises money to help An-them families facing catastrophic life threatening illness or the sudden loss of a child or spouse.

Participants start out clean but that won’t last for long. As the DASH continues, runners will ¿QG�WKHPVHOYHV�EHLQJ�FRYHUHG�LQ�D�VSHFWUXP�RI�FRORUV��EOXH��JUHHQ��SLQN��RUDQJH�DQG�\HOORZ��At each kilometer during the DASH, a new color explosion will add to the clean slate that they RQFH�ZHUH��XQWLO�WKH\�FURVV�WKH�¿QLVK�OLQH�LQWR�D�¿QDO�H[SORVLRQ�RI�FRORUV� The color is a non-toxic, non-irritating, food-grade colored corn-starch, processed right here United States. So running, walking, crawling or rolling through this spectacular show of color and laughter may in fact change your perspective, but not your level of wellness!

It’s that time of year when the holiday decorations have been taken down and we begin to evaluate things around the house. Some-times after the tree is gone

This is actually a great time to evaluate all those home accessories that you put away to decorate for the holidays. FROM THE PANTRY

TORTELLINI WITH SAUSAGE, TOMATOES, & CREAM

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook tortellini as directed on package.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Cook sausage and pep-SHU�ÀDNHV�XQWLO�VDXVDJH�LV�HYHQO\�EURZQHG��Stir in onion and garlic and cook until onion is tender. Stir in tomatoes, cream and salt. Simmer until mixture thickens; about 10 minutes (If the sauce is still thin, PL[�D�WEVS�RI�ÀRXU�LQ�D�FXS�ZLWK�DERXW�ó�c. of cold water and then add to the sauce. It will help thicken it). Serve with warm bread and a side salad.

**Servings: 4-6**

2 large packages of tortellini

1 lb. ground sausage

1 tbsp. olive oil

4 green onions, sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

HIT THE ROAD

Anthem has a lot to offer and sometimes it’s easy to just stay in town and enjoy the local amenities. However, some of us like to hit the road in search of new adventures. If that’s you, we’d like to help out with some great day trip destinations; all within a short drive from Anthem. For instance, if you have friends coming to town or just a week-end day to kill, consider a drive to Saguaro Lake Marina and a boat tour on the Desert Belle.

About an hour drive from Anthem, the marina offers several amenities including a restaurant and boat rentals. However, the must-do is the 90-minute narrated cruise that tours the lake in search of native wildlife and incredible views that offer numerous photographic opportunities.

Saguaro Lake is located within the Tonto National Forest, surrounded by beautiful, natural URFN�IRUPDWLRQV�DQG�PDJQL¿FHQW�GHVHUW�ODQGVFDSH���7KH�ZLOGOLIH�YLHZLQJ�LV�TXLWH�GLYHUVH�DQG�though there is never a guarantee of what you will see, the airspace is home to vultures, falcons, eagles and more. If you keep a keen eye on the land, you’ll have a great chance of spotting bobcats, deer, javelina and mountain lions. And, if you’re really lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some big horn sheep traversing the mountainsides.
