5) As a matter of priority, Extensive Livestock VC development programs should focus on:

a) Community-level interventions with “ market-oriented approach” and “linking farmers with markets”. This should be backed by appropriate technical training on quality extensive livestock breeding, feed formulation and preservation, animal health management and entrepreneurial skills.
b) Commodity Value Chains Approach….Demand for better quality livestock products driven by specific market / consumer segments
c) Integrating agricultural research and extension services to provide quality technical advice and affordable solutions to farmers and other LVC actors.

c) For extensive livestock producers, with limited options to invest in alternative improved practices and technologies, focus on animal production, health management and marketing.
d) Research Investments on cost-effective technologies and viable business models to support adoption, e.g.
- Harnessing local feed resources- Forage crops adaptation research- cost-effective feed formulations & preservation- Conservation & preservation of genetic resources
In Conclusion, EU is keen to partner on:1. Research & outreach initiatives: commodity
based enhanced VCs esp. LVCs (Seeds of Gold: Print & TV series).
2. Capacity building through targeted student attachments/internships, community- and specialist-level trainings,
3. Establishment of an active “farmer-academia-student-industry” interactive platforms
