The NSS volunteers visited theadopted village in the fisherman'scolony , the people welcomedthem and the volunteersinteracted with the coastal beltpeople byattending them home tohome and assessed and replicatedon the status of the area togetherwith the Programme officers. Thissurvey

“Socio Economic Survey”

gave the volunteers a deeper understanding of the socio economic problems ofthe people living in close proximity to the college . The volunteers became morecommitted to do something for the people and help them to improve theirlocality. 50 volunteers of our unit participated in the programme.

Blood Donation Camp“Jeevadayini” – Blood donation awareness campaign

The NSS volunteers visited all the classes and informed the students about theJeevadayini project jointly conducted by NSSDistrict cell . A large number ofstudents including girls came forward with willingness to donate blood. Many blooddonation willingness papers were received through this campaign. 70 students ofcollege were participated .

NSS Units organized Blood donation camp on 13/3/2018with the collaboration of Manjeri Medical College ,Morethan 100 volunteers participated in blood donation camp

Clean Drive And Tree Plantation Dengue Awareness Campaign

The campus and outside college premiseswere weeded due to the outset ofMonsoon. As part of the SwachBharathmission it was decided to conduct a campuscleaning drive.

Homeo Medical camp at Anappady LP School

Homeo hospital Ponnani organised aHomeopathic medical camp at Anappady LPSchool. The People of the coastal beltparticipated in the camp. and it is our ofNSS volunteers make the smooth run of theprogramme. 2 doctors and 3 of theirassistants were there in the programme. 30volunteers played an active part in thefruitful accomplishment of the MedicalCamp.

NCC cadets volunteered for sub district school Yuvjanoltsav atMIHSSPuthuponnani. The NCC cadets of our college volunteeredfor yuvajanltsav at MIHSS PuthuPonnani. 25 cadets .Collectionsmade on 7th December are pooled into one fund known as ArmedForces Flag Day (AFFD) Fund and Amalgamated Special Fund atthe Centre and States respectively.

Palliative care Survey on organic Farming and Marketingc

12 volunteers of our college have undergonetraining at the hospital, accompanied by nursesof Ponnani Taluk Hospital .The responsibilitythey have taken is to provide mental support tothe bedridden patients , interacting with themand give them a feeling that they are not alone.

Swatch Bharat Programme

The NCC Cadets participated in creating awareness among public,informing them about the importance of cleanliness. The students tookthe initiative to clean the surroundings of vicinity. participated in thecleanliness drive organised by the institution under the programme‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Plogging drive conducted in the KSRTC Depot, 36 of the NCC cadets participated in the programme.

All participants have taken oath tomake and keep campus clean; theyhave also cleaned the campus on theoccasion. This activity was alsodedicated to Mahatma Gandhi on theeve of his birth anniversary 2ndOctober, 2016

TRAINING ON GREEN PROTOCOL TECHNIQUES

The students of MES Ponnani college volunteeredfor monitoring and enforcing the green protocolrule suggested by the district collectorMalappuram during january1st to January 12th

2016 lead by the NSS units of MES PonnaniCollege under the aegis of PonnaniKudumbasreeunits the NSS units of the college organised atraining on Green protocol techniques .

45 Students from this college were actively worked for the smoothrunning of the programme. The idea behind the project is that thereshouldn’t be any waste in the end of the festival or programmes in thearea. The waste generated was proposed to be separated initially asorganic and non organic using different disposal bags and then the nonorganic wastes as paper wastes plastic bottles, plastic covers, etc. allthese are then recycled.

Anti Drug Campaign

The NSS Units of the college initiated the grand mission tomake the public aware on the bad effects of drugs and it’snegative role in the various roles of their life. a massivecleanileness drive was launched today by NSS volunteers. Thedrive was aimed to create awareness about 'Swatch BharatAbhiyan' and to encourage people to contribute in maintainingcleanliness in their surroundings.

ADUKKALATHOTTAM - ORGANIC VEGETABLE GARDEN , PONNANI MUNCIPALITY

The unit in association with Ponnani Municipality installed a vegetable garden in the On Keralappiravi day,the unit started the rest of the organic farming activities. The nutrified soil prepared by the students underthe guidance from Ponnani Krishibhavan was filled in the grow bags for making them ready for planting.The filled bags were arranged over the terrace area of the main block building.

In order to aware the common people about organic farming and importance of poison less vegetables theunit introduced “Adukkalathottam” in 20 houses near the college with 5 growbags each under the “ gogreen ” project of the unit. 46volunteers of our unit participated in the programme.

AIDS – Its Causes And Precautions To Be Taken By Youth

AIDS - a dreaded Monster is yet a non curable disease.It may be due to unsafe sex, transfusion of bloodwithout confirming the label HIV free on the bloodbottle, using unsterilized syringe and from HIV affectedmother to her child. It never spreads due to mosquitobite, hugging, to live together or to eat together orsharing clothes or toilet…etc. M.E.S. Ponnani Collegeunder the banner of Red Ribbon Club is quite active &effective in delivering its message to the public throughits Red Ribbon Club volunteers.

Avoid plastic campaign

The new Mission Zero campaign called “Avoid PlasticWaste”. The campaign aimed to encourage you to reducethe amount of plastic waste in your daily life. In the firstthree weeks of December, we are providing the MissionZero (MZ) booths in the main hallways at all threecampus and answered the questions such as how to sortwaste on campus and the progress of our Zero Wasteprograms.

Breast cancer awareness to housewives

Our NSS Volunteers along with the NSS Programme Officer Ms.Bushara went to the Adopted village and actively took part inspreading Breast Cancer Awareness among the people by a door todoor campaign pamphlets were distributed. In association with PCWF,and Shanti palliative care units organised this programme. 120volunteers from our college participated in the programme. Anoncologist was invited by the NSS unit of the college to educate thefaculty and students of symptoms, diagnosis, prevention of breastcancer amongst women. The programme was aimed addressing theissue of breast cancer amongst women in the demanding lifestyle era.

Clean Drive Series - KSRTC Depot Ponnani

On 2nd October 2016, Gandhi Jayanti, theSwachh Bharat Swasth Bharat Mission will beof 2 year old. It means two years have passedsince our Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modihad started Clean India Mission on this day.Now this movement has become verypopular among the masses.

Collected fund for ZilaSainik Welfare Board

The NCC units of the college initiated to collect contributions from public are received throughoutthe year. Contributions to the Fund are recommended to be sent through account payee chequespayable to"Armed Forces Flag Day Fund" C/o Secretary, KendriyaSainik Board, Ministry ofDefence, West Block IV, Wing-VII, 2nd Floor, RK Puram, New Delhi - 110066 "ARMED FORCES FLAGDAY FUND" .The Armed Forces Flag Day or the Flag day is a day dedicated to India towardscollection of funds from people of India for the welfare of the Indian armed forces Personnel.

Mega Blood Donation Camp

The Red Ribbon Club of the College Organized a mega blood donationcamp. Fifty one students were participated. Give blood, give the Gift OfLife… Keeping this as the aim, the unit organized a blood donationcamp under the Red Ribbon Club. Many students voluntarily participated inthis valiant deed.

Palliative home care class

The NSS Units and Karuna Palliative care unit jointlyorganised a palliative care class . The main aim ofthe class to Engage students in palliative care hasduel advantage. One is that, their energy can beutilised for the benefit of patients with chronicdisease. Another is that, inculcating the spirit ofcare can have a positive effect on the attitude ofstudents.

The NSS unit of our college was highly involved inpalliative care activities under the secondary palliativewing of Ponnani Taluk Hospital. A lot of home visitsand other activities were carried out in connectionwith this.

Three Short Films Exhibition

The red ribbon club of the college organised short film exhibition ,screening short movies on Aids Awareness theme . The clubintended to demonstrate their care and concern about HIV andAIDS -for those who are living with HIV, for those who are ill, forthose who have died and for those who care for and support thosedirectly affected.

Energy Conservation Awareness Campaign

Our adopted village “PallapramVillage and Fisherman's Colony is a Coastal area andwe decided to make them aware of the energy conservation activities. In manyhouses we could see using incandescent bulbs. The volunteers just told them thewastage of energy through these lamps and the quantity of light they produce

Visit to adopted village

NSS volunteers generally work in villages, slums andvoluntary agencies to complete 120 hours of regularactivities during an academic year. As per thefundamental principles of National Service Scheme,a volunteer is expected to remain in constant touchwith the community. Hence, it is of vital importancethat a particular village/slum is selected forimplementation of NSS programmes. As the NSSvolunteer is to live with the members of thecommunity during the 7 days Special CampingProgramme and learn from their experience duringhis/her tenure in NSS, the village/slum should becarefully selected for adoption by NSS unit .

An invited talk on the topic “AIDS – its causesand precautions to be taken by youth” wasorganized at MSK Hall. Smt.Harsha,ICTCcounselor from taluk Hospital ,Ponnanidelivered the lecture. 50 kudumbasree unitmembers joined the programme and Almost120 students were participated.

The Red Ribbon Club unit of thecollege Conducted a One DayWorkshop on ResearchMethodology conducted by NSSon 23/11/2017,Session handledby Dr.Santhosh .

In the programme 60 students participated International Youth Day's Slogan for 2014 was Youth and mental healthFor 2015, it was Youth and Civic Engagement. The theme of the 2016 International Youth Day was “The Road to2030 Eradication of poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production."

Invited talks on AIDS awareness

An awareness programme on prevention of HIV/ AIDS was organised by Red RibbonClub(RRC ) Unit and NSS unit of the college . Distributed pamphlets and notices on theeffects of AIDS to the public and college volunteers .Ponnnani Taluk hospital cheif doctordelivered a lecture in the hospital premises to the public and students and made themaware on HIV/ AIDS issue and also shared the concept of RRC,

Its objectives and strenghthening of RRC unit through a power point presentation andlife skill promotion and also has shown some jingles and photographes . After thelecture gave time to interact with the public and students to clear their doubts abouttheir misconception .

Palliative Care Awareness

A class on Introduction to Palliative Care wasarranged at MSK Hall on 11/12/2017 under theauspices of alpha Palliative Care Unit, Thrissur.Sabna. M, Teacher Coordinator gave the openingremarks. Principal Dr. T. P. Abbas presided thefunction. Smt. Venus introduced the importanceof Palliative care Activity. PhysiotherapistDr.Shyju, made an awareness class on Studentsinitiative in Palliative. Hiba , M, Studentcoordinator delivered vote of thanks.

As a part of Palliative Day Campaign on January 150 Pratheeksha Palliative care unit voluteers actively involved inspreading words on importance of palliative care units in collaboration with Shanthi Palliative The students movedout in groups and covered whole of Ponnani Constituency .

Students collected 75,000 Rupees and was handed over to Shanthi Palliative Unit .Micro funding campaign andpalliative social outreach Women Empowerment through self employmentPaper bag making for adopted area on4/10/20.

World AIDS day rally

The Red Ribbon Club of the collegeorganised AIDS awareness rally . 40students participated in the programme.Stating that citizens and the youth havea collective responsibility towardsincreasing awareness on HIV/AIDSprevention, students took out a rallyhere on Monday. Organised by theDistrict AIDS Control Unit Principal Dr. TP Abbas flagged off the rally at the TalukHospital , Ponnani in which participantsheld placards that called for unitedstruggle to create awareness amongpeople to prevent AIDS.

The World Health Organisation was campaigning on the theme “Rock the Ribbon” as it continued to create awarenessthroughout the year.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION

Two programmes were conducted in this connection. Prof. P. MohammedShafi, former head, Dept. of Chemistry, University of Calicut inaugurated theEnvironment DayCelebrations on 5th of June and released a bookletprepared in connection with the theme”7 billion dreams, One planet,Consume with Care”. A presentation competition on the theme wasconducted for the higher secondary students of nearby schools.The secondsession of the World Environment Day celebration was held at MSK Hall ofMES Ponani College on 12th of June,2015. Sri.IndianoorGopi,Environmentalist and Secretary, NilaSamrakshanaSamithi and Prof. V.Gopinathan, Rtd. DDE gave presentations on the theme. Dr. V.K, Brijeshcoordinated the programme which is supported by KSCSTE.

ANTI-NARCOTIC CAMPAIGN

MES Ponnani college organized a program in itscampus about anti-drugs campaign on26/6/2016. For this, the college invited S.I ofPolice Station as a Chief Guest to deliver aspeech and guide the students against the evilsof the drugs. Principal inaugurated theprogram.

WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY

Shikha Goyal. World Blood Donor Day 2020 is observed on14 June to mark the anniversary of Karl Landsteiner. It wasfirst celebrated in 2004 to spread awareness about the needfor regular blood donations and its requirement to savelives. The institution observes this day with the help of theNCC cadets and volunteers. Many students and individualsdonate blood during the event.
