Discover the “Switzerland” of Central America, a country which disbanded its army in 1949. Covering just 0.03% of the globe’s surface, Costa Rica is home to 6% of the world’s biodiversity and has devoted nearly 26% of its land to conservation and national parks. Explore a variety of exotic locales, including Ballenas National Park, the Monte Verde Cloud Forest Reserve, Arenal National Park, and San Jose. Choose between earning three core credits in Science or in Literature: BIO 307 (sci/g): Field Studies in Costa Rica with Dr. Lynn Diener ENG 275 (lit/g): Literature of Place: Nature Writing & Ecocriticism with Nan Metzger & Dr. Paula Reiter PREREQUISITE: Study Abroad Orientation. Program Cost: $3,800 Tuition: Included as part of the regular Spring 2020 semester for full-time Mount Mary students.
