Here you see Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg motorcars of the classic era 1925-1937. These automobiles are rich in history, technological innovation, luxury and aesthetic beauty. They defined the stature of the Auburn Automobile Company with clarity and excitement.

Gallery of Auburn, Indiana, AutomobilesNo fewer than ten different brands of motorcars were manufactured in Auburn, Indiana, in the pre- WWI era. The city of Auburn, was a center for vehicle development and manufacturing.

Advertising DepartmentThe advertising campaigns used to promote Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs were as fantastic as the automobiles themselves. The company was one of the first to sell a lifestyle with its automobiles.

Export and Domestic SalesAuburn’s Export Department, headed by Robert Wiley, had dealers located in 93 countries and U.S. Territories throughout the world. Domestic Sales were directed by Neil McDarby. By 1930 new dealerships were added at the rate of five per day.

Conference RoomWhere sales meetings, dealer and distributor conferences, departmental meetings and general meetings were held.

Office of the President E. L. CordFrom this room Cord made his important business decisions concerning the Auburn Automobile Company, Duesenberg, Inc. and his far-reaching transportation conglomerate called Cord Corporation.

From his windows Cord could oversee the busy auto plant, located on 23 acres, just a few hundred feet from here.

Much of Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg mechanical innovations and avant-garde designs can be traced directly to their rich racing histories. Duesenberg dominated Indianapolis racing throughout its first decades. All three marques’ trials, triumphs and tribulations, many on the raceway, led to passenger cars offering innovations and designs that are still revered to this day.

Lincoln Financial Group FoundationThe Cars of IndianaThe state of Indiana was one of America’s most productive regions committed to automotive commerce. Displayed are rare and unusual automobiles built in the Hoosier state.

Design StudiosYou are standing in the clay model studio where Gordon Buehrig designed the Cord 810. Alan Leamy’s design studio and Herbert Snow’s engineering office flank each side.
