HITEK and innovation

BladeRunnerSafe Passage ShadowMaker

Presenter
Presentation Notes
HITEK has worked on two TSB projects, Safe Passage and a BladeRunner, to reduce the radar cross section of Wind Turbines both on and off shore and has developed a PV solution called ShadowMaker which is a low cost solution for blocking the effect of turbines on aviation radar.

CM 7989 December 2010

Presenter
Presentation Notes
The Green paper CM 7989 has a number of references to the “risk” that MoD perceives is involved in doing business with SME’s.

Risk and SME’sThe SME engagement The SME engagement ‘‘challenge?challenge?

2009 ONS data (as above)

99.9% of businesses are SMEs

46.8% of those ‘born’ in 2004 still active in 2009

48000 Scientific & Technical sector SMEs started up in 2009

42000 Scientific & Technical sector SMEs ceased trading in 2009

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Numbers from the ONS which reinforces MoD’s concerns

Risk and SME’s

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Should there be a grading system for SME’s to allow MoD, Primes and Tier 1’s which quickly allow them to rate and compare sources of supply, I know where I would rate HITEK!

The UK Defence SME Risk Register

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Should MoD contract with someone like Plimsoll to allow on line checking of an SME’s status in accordance with the new grading system.

These conductive elastomers offer excellent shielding and environmental sealing. Conductive compounds can be extruded into various shapes and sizes. The electrically conductive silicones can be formulated to meet your specific requirements. These silicones are designed to meet MilG83528 revision B specifications.

Competitor A

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Competitor A implies its materials “are designed to meet MilG93528 revision B” an obsolete specification. A bit like implying a ripped off DVD meets the specification of BlueRay

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Competitor B just lists numbers but does not allie them to any specification.

Competitor C

Extrusion:•The thinnest extrudable wall section is 0.35mm, but material choice

will be reduced as our range of softer materials cannot be used• •When sealing to IP67+, jointing of the product will be necessary to

achieve requirement• •Grooves should be designed to avoid over compression of the

gasket and groove overfill• •Developed lengths of O-rings should be calculated by including a

maximum stretch of 1.5% to avoid assembly issues

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Competitor C does not refer to any specification at all.
