Chicken Curry Recipe
Here are the ingredients for chicken curry. There are lots of different recipes, this is just one! Do you recognize the ingredients? What’s missing? Ginger.
Exercise 12Look at the recipe! You have to find the verbs. They are at the bottom of the recipe. Some verbs are repeated in the recipe.cut 4 chicken breasts into pieces. cut 1 onion, a piece of garlic, 3 tomatoes and a little ginger into small pieces.Fry the chicken pieces in oil for 10 minutes (slowly!!)
Add the onions, garlic, red peppers and tomatoes to the chicken pieces and fry for another 10 minutes. Add a teaspoonful of curry paste and mix well. Finally add a can of the coconut milk and cook very slowly for 15 minutes.Serve with rice and enjoy! S: Well….let’s look at this city guide here. Okay….Uh, here’s something interesting: Why don’t we first visit the British Museum? I heard it’s the oldest museum in the world! We’ll be able to see famous Egyptian sculptures as well as the world-famous Rosetta Stone! Can’t wait….
A: Well…I’d rather not. The British Museum must be great but it’s so big! It will take us at least 3 hours to look around….
S: To tell the truth, I’d prefer to go straight to Covent Garden and do some shopping!
A: Nah, I don’t think that’s a good idea. We can go shopping some other time! What about vi-siting the Tower of London instead? It is the home to the Crown Jewels, isn’t that great? I can’t wait to see the queen’s crown.
S: I’d rather not. Not this afternoon anyway….It will be overcrowded!
A: But the Tower of London is over a thousand years old!!
S: I know but I don’t feel like seeing it this afternoon. How about taking a ride in the London Eye? The view must be fantastic from the top!
A: I think so, yeah….but….are you sure you don’t want to visit a museum? What about Madame Tussauds? You thought the Musee Grevin was so fantastic when we last visited it in Paris.
S: Let us visit Madame Tussauds tomorrow, okay? But why don’t we visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum this afternoon? Adrian, you’re an absolute fan, aren’t you? Besides you told me you’ve always wanted to see Baker Street!
A: Now that sounds like a wonderful plan. Let’s go!

Exercise 17I think Sherlock Holmes is rather tall and slim. He probably has black hair and dark eyes. His nose is very thin and hawk-like (a hawk: faucon). He has a pointed chin and thin lips.

Holmes was tall and thin. He had black hair and grey eyes, thin lips and a hooked nose. Sherlock Holmes was always very easy to recognize. He wore a «deerstalker» hat and a matching suit and always smoked a pipe. He also carried a magnifying glass to help him more closely at the clues he found.
Exercise 21Holmes never exercised for the fun of it but he was always fit and ready for the action that took place in the stories. He was very good at boxing or at Baritsu- (a form of martial art). He was also good at fencing.
Holmes stayed up late and got up just as late in the morning! He smoked a lot. He loved his pipe! Holmes was scrupulously clean and was always dressed neatly-He enjoyed wearing a Deerstalker cap. Holmes was quick at solving even difficult cases. When he was not involved in a case, he became lazy. Holmes enjoyed listening to music and he was keen on going to various concerts. He played the violin and his favourite musicians were German. Holmes seemed to be a cold person at first but he was not. He cared deeply about his friends and was concerned for Watson.
The ladies, Emily Brent and Vera Clayhorne, were sitting on a sofa, chatting pleasantly about some people they both knew.
William Blore was studying with naïve surprise a statuette supposed to be a female figure. Ge-neral Macarthur was playing with his little white moustache, thinking how good the dinner had been. Philip Lombard was turning over the pages of Punch Magazine.
Roger, the butler, was serving coffee….
Suddenly, they all heard a terrible voice: ‘ Ladies and gentlemen, silence please!’
