P.3 Renovations P.4 T he Foster and Knox homes are currently receiving major renovations. Both homes are get- ting hardwood floors, new windows, siding, new wheelchair accessible showers and decks. The Foster Street home is getting a kitchen remodel in addition to the other renovations. Knox & Foster Street Group Homes Receive Renovations Donate Your Bottles and Cans to Downeast Horizons Special Olympics! A s motorists travel on Route 3 they will notice the addition of a bottle donation trailer in front of the MDI Center. This trailer has banners on both sides. They explain that the donations received will be used to fund Downeast Horizons partici- pation in Special Olympics. The hope is that as visiting tourists and campers pass by the trailer, they will have a convenient place to drop their bottles and cans while helping athletes at the same time! Downeast Horizons Annual Dinner M ore than 225 guests, including program participants, parents and guardians, Downeast Horizons staff, and members of the Board of Directors attended the Downeast Horizons Annual Dinner. Two employees were recognized for 20 years of service along with another recognized for 10 years of service. Thanking the program participants, parents, guardians, Board of Directors and the staff, Tony Zambrano, Executive Director of Downeast Horizons, recognized that, for we have transformed Downeast Horizons into one of the largest and most well- respected agencies in Downeast Maine. A good time was had by all. It was apparent to all in attendance that here was a demonstration that such activities can truly help children and adults with developmental disabilities to enjoy their lives.
