Mr. Mintoo began his career aspiring to be a ship captain but turned into a businessman and has achieved

outstanding success as a leading entrepreneur of Bangladesh. He advocates societal structure that simultaneously

embraces both the market and government. As a fearless champion of the cause of strengthening the economic

infrastructure of Bangladesh Mintoo’s business edifice was built by his capitalizing on the rich and varied

experiences, steady resolve and an indomitable spirit. He pioneered the first research-based agriculture breeding

and Seed Production Company in Bangladesh partnered with Mr. Simon Groot, FAO’s 2019 World Food Prize

winner. As the Chairman of Lal Teer Seed Ltd., Mr. Mintoo is still contributing to the enhancement of nutrition and

food security, farmers and women empowerment in Bangladesh through the production of high yielding hybrid

and open pollinated seed. Since inception, Mr. Mintoo has engaged his Lal Teer team in frontier research for the

agricultural development in Bangladesh in collaboration with international interest groups in areas of Feed the

Future, Homestead Farming, disease-, pest-, salinity-, flood, drought resilient crops and vegetable varieties

envisioning the far-fetched impact of climate change on poor and homestead farmers. The company has recently

been established a salt tolerant breeding and testing center in saline coastal area of Bangladesh in collaboration

with the leading Dutch research group in this arena.

Mr. Mintoo attended and played pivotal roles in various APSA Conferences/Congress, Special Interest Group

Meetings, AVRDC meetings, Indian Seed Congress around the World. He is a born leader and twice led the

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI). He has also recently been elected as the

President of Bangladesh Seed Association (BSA).
