Vicar’s message:

Dearly Beloved in Christ,

Warm greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord

and Savior Jesus Christ. Lord, our God provides perfect freedom, let

us use our blessings meaningfully. As we enter the 4th month of the

year 2018, may the Almighty Lord continue to bless you all. I would

like to share a few thoughts from St. Matthew 21: 1-11, V 10, And

when he entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, “who is

this?”. The literal meaning of 'Hosanna' is “ Save Now”. It fits well

with the Jewish longing for deliverance from the Roman Yoke. But

the crowd may not have meant it. The phrase has come to be used

as a shout of praise, like, 'Hallelujah'.

The palm Sunday procession took place during the Passover.

This procession consisted of ordinary people, especially from

Galilee. One may call the event ' the triumphal entry' of Jesus into

Jerusalem. But his purpose was not to get control of the city like a

triumphant king, but to reveal his true identity. The people of the

city watched the procession coming along the side of the Mount of

Olives. The anthem “ Hosanna to the Son of David” stunned them,

because 'Son of David' was a Messianic title. The Jews would not

accept Jesus, a Galilean, as their King. So it irritated them. “ All the

city was stirred”, so we read. It was a royal procession with a

difference.

The annoyed people asked a most disturbing question for

themselves as well as for millions throughout the history: “ Who is

this?” Yet, it is the right question about Jesus. Though it came from

an irritated crowd spontaneous, it will always remain relevant. It

must disturbe the mind of everyone who comes in touch with Jesus

until he/she finds the right answer. Some people answered , “ This

is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee”. For most people in

the world, including many millions in other religion, he is indeed a

prophet. But to you and me, is he just a prophet or something

more than that?

Our Parish Annual General Body was conducted on 2018

March 25, Sunday after the Holy Communion Service. Let me

expressed my sincere thanks to all who attended the meeting

prayerfully. Also I would like to appreciate all Edavaka Mission

members and the office bearers for arranging this year Lent house

prayers meaningfully and orderly.

Cross and empty tomb fills with hope. May the Holy Spirit

enable us to experience the transforming power of Resurrection in

our lives so that we can lead a life with Risen Christ, and become a

witness of His Resurrection. “ The Lord is raised ! He is risen

indeed!”

Let us acknowledge God's presence and providence we experienced throughout the faith Journey, which are beyond our measure. Here I request your wholehearted prayer and support to all the activities of the Church. Since we are in the second quarter of this year, as a faith community we submit ourselves in the mighty hands of God for the effective ministry that will be fruitful to all members of the Church.

As we move on, I seek your wholehearted co-operation and support towards our parish and its activities. May the crucified and the resurrected Lord be with us in our daily life, in our ministry and in all walks of life…

YOUTH CHAPLAIN’S CORNER.

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will

certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. - Romans 6:5 (NRSV)

The love of God enables all to have a new life. A life where we have the right fellowship with Him. A life where we do not have to fear death (Very truly, I tell you, anyone who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come under judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24 NRSV.) But to be united in a resurrection like his, we first need to be united in a death like his. For many people, they celebrate Easter by going back to the way they did things before Lent. They return to their old habits. But to enjoy the right relationship with God and to be united with him in a resurrection like his, we need to be united with him in a death like his. A death like his, a death where we do what God wants us to do all the time. A death like his, where we do not seek to glorify ourselves, but we seek to glorify God. A death like his, where we love others, and are willing to help and take care of others. Though Jesus, we can be united with God and enjoy a resurrection like his, but first we need to be united with him in a death like his.
