9.Safety • Safety is the effort to minimize the risk of the

harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance.

• Competency in safety is based on constantly asking ……

how actions affect patient risk,

where the next error is likely to occur, and what action to prevent near misses.

10.Evidence-based nursing practice

• Since safety is foundational to quality, one way to define quality is providing “the right

care, at the right time, for the right person, in the right way.”…..This is EBNP.
