Formatting Worksheet Tab
2
Formatting worksheet tabs will help distinguish the
different tabs. The different colors make it easier to read
and find specific tabs.
The tab is shaded in orange with bolded
text.
Applying Header/Footer to Worksheet
3
A header/footer can display information such as the date, file name, and page number. There are other options. By
having the information visible, it is easier to read, understand, and follow the
document.
4
Inserting/Editing a Hyperlink
5
Inserting links inside the Excel worksheet is beneficial because it will take the reader right to the source of where the data came from. If the
reader wanted more information about the data, the reader can easily click on the hyperlink. It
saves the reader time.
Applying Number Formatting
6
When entering data, knowing how to apply different number formats will make it easier and faster to type in the data. For example, if you are entering percentages, you do not
need to type the percent sign (%) every time. If you format the cells with the
“Percentage” format, Excel will put in the percent sign (%) for you.
Naming a Range
7
All the information in the highlighted green box is named “Race.” Using name ranges
make writing formulas and finding information easier because the entire cell
range is already included. You do not have to type each one individually.
Adding Buttons to Toolbar
8
By customizing and adding your own buttons onto the toolbar, it makes the things
you do often easier and faster because the icon is
right on top.
Conditional Formatting Rules
9
Applying conditional formatting to certain cells will make the cell
stand out more. It also gives the cells distinction because rules are
applied.
The conditional formatting rule for this column is that any percentages that are over 50% will be shaded in with orange.
