Ex-‐Kamaiyas •  A form of slavery which existed in Nepal for over half a century. Under this system, th

ousands of poor Nepalese worked as bonded labourers (without remuneration) to repay loans owed by their ancestors.

•  The government of Nepal declared the Kamaiya free in mid 2000. Over 20,000 households received allocations of land from the government; however, much of this land is either barren, disaster prone or poorly connected to essential facilities. Promises of other assistance remain unfulfilled.

•  Ex bonded labourer live on camp like structure(Cluster) of 80 families, 120 families and 200 families. We can replicate this model to any settlements depending on the availability of resources. More than 24,000 families are on same desperate situation.
