EVERI see that the current FVE project to establish the position of “acknowledged vet” within Europe is a profession wide project incorporation all branches of the profession

EVERI feel that it is important that all sections have an active input into the discussion

EVERI feel that the solution can be found within the existing veterinary education and specialisation structure.

Currently the EVBS provide the controlling body for the specialist colleges which provide diplomas at EU level

The existing structure is capable of absorbing the “acknowledged vet” concept .

It is possible that each college could provide an assessment process similar to that which is used in the UK. This provides a qualification system which has a similar components to the diploma but examined at a reduced achievement level

This proposal fulfils two objectives A: It provide a European frame work to

Incorporate the “acknowledged vet” It will encourage practitioners to achieve

this qualification as a stepping stone to the attainment of the full diploma.

In this way eventually providing more diplomats of the various specialisations.

That the Portuguese delegate is empowered to develop this position within the FVE framework. As discussed at the GA in Basel
