. January Trips We will be starting off the month touring schedule with a visit to the Denver Art Museum, on January 7. The bus will leave the Yellow House at 10:30. The following week, on the 16 th , we will enjoy lunch at Maya’s Restaurant; the bus will leave SRC at 11:00. And finally, on the 24 th , we will go next-door to visit the library. The bus will leave at 10:30. Dates to Celebrate January 1. Happy New Year! Today is noteably celebrated by the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl football game. (And by a few resolutions!) New Year’s Day is Tuesday this year, and SRC Will Be Closed. January 6. This date traditionally ends the Christmas season and the twelve days of Christmas. The Three Wise Men have arrived in Bethlehem. January 19-25. This is National Book Week. Try to viisit the library or bookstore. “Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.” (Mason Cooley) January 21. On the third Monday of January we celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday, born in 1929. January of 1959, an American Airlines Boeing 707 made the first transcontinental flight, traveling from California to New York. January 31. The Chinese New Year begins. 2019 will be the Year of the Pig; the pig is associated with wealth and luck. New SRC can now offer assistance for free eye exams and glasses; there is a $200.00 limit on the cost of the glasses. Just call the main number: 303-674-2843, and ask for PJ Ross. She will take care of you. This is made available through a couple of grants, and seniors will be served on a first come, first served basis. Reminders If adverse weather conditions dictate an SRC closure, please call the SRC main number: 303-674-2843. The voice mail will be updated by 4:45 AM. If weather conditions deteriorate after the clients have been dropped at SR C and roads are unsafe, we will keep them at SRC

until road conditions improve.

Foot Clinic

Haircut

Hairstylist Janeen, from Beautiful You, will be back on January from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Discounted costs for haircut are $20.00 for ladies and $15 for gentlemen, and beard trims for $10.00. Seniors in the community as well as our clients and friends are welcome. To reserve a spot, please sign up at the front desk or call 303-674-2843. Reservations are taken until January at noon.

We visited the Animal Farm. This was quite interesting!
