This survey was carried out by PLASA and completed by professionals across the events industry from 13-17 July to collect up to date data on the impact the Covid-19 pandemic is having on the events and entertainment industries during 2020. A total of 414 respondents completed the survey.

The data has been provided directly with no analysis so businesses, individuals and government can interpret the data to inform their decision making and take action where necessary.

It is important to recognise that since the survey was undertaken and the results published, there have been further government announcements that should be considered when analysing the results.

PLASA would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete this survey.

Other

Most projects we typically work on are indoors

Most events and tours will not resume until 2021

Social distancing mean most events are not viable

There is not enough time to organise events until 2021

No freelance work available (freelancer's only)

Orders will be slow to pick-up (manufacturer's only)

Other included:

Lack of confidence in promotors / Lack of public confidence.

I suspect a great deal of installation projects will be affected by the lack of revenue created by the current situation.

No way to measure how the 1.57b will trickle down to suppliers.

Events have gone or will go online or a mixture of the two and likely the larger companies will utilise their own staff as much as possible before involving smaller companies or freelancers.

Due to huge decrease in events, demand for new equipment is almost zero.

Reliant on other countries opening up for travel without restrictions / Most work in US and Europe.

Not living in London prevents me from being selected or most higher profile events.

Councils are still rejecting licences as guidelines are not clear.

Clients not having as much budget due to them having reduced revenue.

We're all reasonably sure that most venues will be putting on low-budget productions for the foreseeable future. We offer a long lasting product that companies could easily re-use even if they normally wouldn't.
