Example: filling the xls template [1 / 3]
• Download the latest template: http://dd.eionet.europa.eu/dataset.jsp?ds_id=2904
• Filled template example: BWQ_SI_2010.xls
• BWQD_2006_IdentifiedBW– BWID: Unique identification code of bathing water, must be unique, must
start with two letter code of country
– BWName: Name of Bathing Water
– Longitude_BW, Latitude_BW: Coordinates in ETRS89 format– BWType: 1 existing bathing water, 2 new bathing water, 3 de-listed bathing
water
– Closed: N bathing water is not closed, YP bathing water is permanently closed, YT bathing water is temporarily closed
– BWaterCat: C coastal water, L lake, R river, T transitional water

Example: filling the xls template [2 / 3]
• BWQD_2006_SeasonalInfo– BWID: Unique identification code of bathing water, must be unique, must
start with two letter code of country
– StartDate, EndDate : Start / End date of the bathing season. Format: YYYY-MM-DD
• BWQD_2006_MonitoringResults– BWID: Unique identification code of bathing water, must be unique, must
start with two letter code of country
– SampleDate: Date of sampling. Format: YYYY-MM-DD
– ConcIE: Measured concentration of Intestinal Enterococci per sample in "colony forming unit" per 100 ml (cfu/100ml). Zero value is replaced by minimal detection limit. More samples per sampling date are possible.
– ConcEC: Measured concentration of Escherichia coli per sample in "colony forming unit" per 100 ml (cfu/100ml). Zero value is replaced by minimal detection limit. More samples per sampling date are possible.

Example: filling the xls template [3 / 3]
• BWQD_2006_AbnormalSituationsAbnormal situations table contains an event or combination of events impacting on bathing water quality at the location concerned and not expected to occur on average more than once every four years.
– BWID: Unique identification code of bathing water, must be unique, must start with two letter code of country
– StartDateA, EndDateA: Start / End date of the impact of an abnormal situation. Format: YYYY-MM-DD
• BWQD_2006_ShortTermPolutShort term pollution table contains one or more events of short term pollution that occur during the bathing season. Short term pollution means microbiological contamination that has clearly identifiable causes, is not normally expected to affect bathing water quality for more than approximately 72 hours after the bathing water quality is first affected and for which the competent authority has established procedures to predict and deal with.

BWD status calculation methodology
Transition period - 2006/7/EC
• number of samples – number of records (samples) for each BW station in new_monitoringresults table• Season length [in days] = EndDate – StartDate• no measurements - no records for a station in new_monitoringresults table
• if BWType = 3 THAN status = NULL (Delisted station)• if Closed = Y, YP, YT and BWType != 3 THAN status = B• if there are no measurements THAN status = NS• if one parameter is missing THAN status = NF• If 1st sample > 10 days after season start or 2nd sample > 41 days after season start THAN status = NF• if interval between 2 samples > 41 days THAN status = NF• If season start - 1st sample during the season > 41 days THAN status = NF• If last sample during the season – season end > 41 days THAN status = NF• If number of samples < 4 and season length > 8 weeks (56 days) THAN status = NF
• in all other cases, actual status calculation: – ConcIE:
• CG: no.of measurements <= 100 / all measurements >= 0.9• CI: otherwise
– ConcEC:• CG: no of measurements <= 100 / all measurements >= 0.8• CI: no of measurements <= 2000 / all measurements >= 0.95• NC: otherwise
– final status is equal to the WORST status of both parameter statuses

EoE reporting introduction
• Reporting of bathing water quality during bathing season on weekly or bi-weekly intervals– Data is sent by email to ETC/W: [email protected]
• Template is similar to annual BWD reporting, but simplified, only monitoring table is requested
• Country data is processed and then available on Eye On Earth portal: http://www.eyeonearth.eu/
Event / date: Regional workshop of ETC/ICM, Zagreb, 31.5.2011 Author: Marko Kovačič (IWRS)11
Example: filling the template
• Download the latest template: http://www.izvrs.si/bwd/EoE_SEIS_template_2011.xls
• cc: International Country Code (e.g. HU).• BWID: Unique Bathing Water Identification.• BWName: Name of bathing water place.• Longitude_BW, Latitude_BW: Coordinates in decimal degrees in ETRS89
coordinate system with four decimal places (e.g. 32.5547).• SampleDate: Date when the parameter samples were taken (e.g.
10.05.2010).• ConcIE: Concentration of Intestinal enterococci (cfu/100ml). The reference
methods of analysis are ISO 7899-1 or 7899-2.• ConcEC: Concentration of Escherichia coli (cfu/100ml). The reference
methods of analysis are ISO 9308-3 or ISO 9308-1.

EoE status calculation methodology
Methodology for calculating status (directive 2006/7/EC):
• if both parameters (ConcIE, ConcEC) are missing then status = 6 (NS) *• if one of parameters is missing then status = 3 (NF) *• if both parameter values are less than GV (ConcIE <= GV && ConcEC <= GV)
then status = 1 (CG)– elseif ConcEC value is less than MV (ConcEC <= MV) then status = 5 (CI)– elseif both ConcEC and ConcIE are exceeding MV (ConcEC > MV AND ConcIE > MV)
then status = 2 (B)– else status = 4 (NC)
• * statuses 3 (NF) and 6 (NS) are not reported for EoE
Guide value (excellent) Mandatory value (good)
ConcIE (inland) 200 400
ConcEC (inland) 500 1000
ConcIE (seawater) 100 200
ConcEC (seawater) 250 500
