It’s been a good start in the time we’ve had together already. The staff met as a whole team on Tuesday, with students Y1-12 returning over Wednesday and Thursday. Kinder will start as a group on Wednesday next week, in the meantime completing their Best Start Assessments. There are many smiling faces and it ’s been great to see everyone re-connecting as well as meeting the many new people to our school. Amongst the staff we welcome Ms Maddy Simpson who has been appointed as a permanent Visual Arts teacher, Mrs Sherie Burrows, K-6 teacher, has entered on duty after having been appointed from the commencement of 2019 but taking some maternity leave until now. Mr Shaun Butler, K-6 teacher, Mr James Smith, Mathematics teacher, join us and Mrs Tanya Entwistle, Mrs Cheryl Patch and Mrs Alison McGeary have returned after having been on leave during 2019. Mr Glen Cook has been appointed to a role coordinating Aboriginal language programs across NSW and his Assistant Principal role at our school will be filled through a merit selection process during Term 1. Ms Tash Webster has joined our office team on a more regular basis and Mr Kurt Forrester will be assisting with technology support through a traineeship program. There are many exciting opportunities ahead for the students and we have encouraged them to take up opportunities to build their personal understandings, skills and relationships through the year. We’re looking forward to working with you to see our students grow to achieve their personal best in 2020. Rob Walker – Principal Primary Swimming Carnival Tomorrow The carnival will commence at Evans Head Aquatic Centre at 9:30am for all primary students turning 8 and older this year. All students are required to attend school for roll marking and then walk to the pool in class groups. The group will depart Evans River at 9:10am and will return to the school by 2:45pm. Students are reminded to come dressed in their sports house colours and thongs may be worn. $4 pool entry is required unless students have a season ticket or fitness passport. NO crepe paper, hair dye, balloons or body paint. Students are required to bring recess, a drink and plenty of snacks. There will be a sausage sizzle available for lunch at $2 each. All Kindergarten, Year 1 and year 2 students who are not turning 8 this year will remain at school for normal lessons. General Permission Notes General permission and medical information notes have been sent home. Please ensure they are returned to the school ASAP (yellow and red for high school and blue and red for primary). It is essential that these are returned to ensure that we have current details for each student, particularly in the case of an emergency.
