Q3. What have you learnt from your audience feedback? On my work, I collected a different range of feedback from a variety of people on different platforms. Both qualitative data and quantitative. The first one I collected was survey. 6 people filled out this survey and this is the feedback I was given. The first question I asked was what is the gender because then I could tell how much of the population I asked was female and male. Next after this I wanted to see what age range they were in so then I could refer back to the age of the people I asked because I cannot generalise the answers I got to everyone because they were predominantly younger. I then wanted to find out their actual thoughts towards my work. So, in question 3, I asked my peers what was the most predominant theme in the trailer what I got from this was that murder was a big element of my trailer to a lot of people however a few people did say that it was Tough Guy. This is what I was trying to get across in my trailer as typically it is Strong Women but I wanted to challenge this and have the opposite effect. The next question I asked was how well did the soundtrack work with the trailer. For most of the answers it was a clear yes that it did well however there was one low mark of a 2 showing that in their opinion that a different soundtrack would of worked better. I wanted a range of answers so that is something that maybe if I was to do it again that’s what I would improve on so that more people could then agree. So by this point I have already asked questions on the age of my peers, theme, and soundtrack so I thought I should ask about the

So by this point I have already asked questions on the age of my peers, theme, and soundtrack so I thought I should ask about the camera movement. This meant that I could have questions, which covered a lot of the elements that I wanted to broaden in the trailer. My results for this was that the camera angles for a lot of people were average and then others noticed that there was quite a lot of angles. Ideally I wanted to get a broad amount however I also wanted to keep in with the soap opera genre and based on my research, there were not a broad range of camera angles in soaps I looked into like Hollyoaks, Eastenders and Corrie.

Based on this quantitative data I collected, I feel like if I was to go back and do this again I would conceder changing the trailer soundtrack so that it would definitely suit my trailer. I would also challenge the camera angles more and try more shot types.

I thought it would be a deeper analysis of my work if I then collected more feedback, so I then went into collecting qualitative data from more in depth commentary. For this I uploaded my trailer onto social media to get more peoples opinion. So, I posted my trailer on to YouTube and then I added it into a post I wrote up on Facebook, in this I wrote questions, which I wanted the comments to answer. I got replies in full sentences. In these replies I got what I aimed for as they all addressed the questions so I got feedback on the different elements of the trailer. These questions were not the same to the survey, I asked them to talk about their initial reaction, what themes they could identify, what they thought of the use of sound, what they thought of the camera shot types, does the trailer feel authentic, what are the actors like and how do they portray the character, whether they think that the trailer would appeal to my target audience and finally would it achieve success on BBC 2.

Reading my feedback, Ellie mentioned how the trailer looked realistic which is good to hear because then I know my research and my inspirations from the real life trailers did well. She also mentioned how, murder came through quite a lot but also suggested how other themes such as relationships and conflict were in there too. She also said about the use of sound and that the diabetic sound created a dramatic feel. Then she said that as a person in that age group I’m appealing to she thinks that it would do well on BBC 2 because she would watch it and thinks that other people of a similar age would too.

Alternately, Charlie said all similar things however, regarding the actors, she thought that they were ‘too staged’ and then following this she said that maybe because she’s at the higher end of my target audience, it would probably appeal to the younger end more so because she was not over keen on the actors because of the age gap.

Similarly, to Ellie, Jade, Jessica and Gemma said similar. They also thought that it was engaging and the themes and soundtrack really did it justice. Jade mentioned how the age group of the actors were similar to the age group I am appeal to which would encourage them to watch it and inevitably enjoy it. Overall, the feedback I have received has helped me make my own judgement on my work and decide what are the good elements and what could be improved slightly.
