WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?Audience
feedback was an important element to help us acknowledge what our
audience expected from our products. Regular feedback was necessary
to ensure the best results for our media products, looking upon my
initial research and planning prior to making the video; in which I
created a survey on survey monkey asking various questions
including what encourages them to watch a music video, what
elements of a digi-pack draws their attention the most etc. The
images below show what was expected from our target audience
initially. Upon evaluating our products we have established that we
have met the expectations of our products. The most commonly
response, pre-production, was the appearance of the digi-pack. It
was also the recognition of the artist, however as our artist was
new, we could not take that factor into consideration. I believe we
have achieved this as out most recent audience feedback resulted to
the appearance of our digi-pack and website successful. Responses
include:the colours work well together and you immediately drawn to
the artistfonts are bold and readableits simple but appealingPrior
to these changes our previous digi-packs, which can be viewed on
our blogs, did receive some negative comments. This mainly
consisted of the artist not having direct gaze to the camera, the
colours were too dark and the mise-en-scene did not match our
genre. These were negative comments for all three products.
Alterations were made immediately, the analysis on our blogs show
the changes made to our products. Audience feedback needs to be
regular, and one of the tools that I wished we did not more
consistently to get even better results. An advantage of qualitative
data is that it can provide a response that is full of detail. This
is an advantage for us as it would allow us to see exactly what we
did right and wrong in all three of our products and also give us
ideas on how to better our products. Another advantage is that it
encourages people to expand on their answers and this may bring up
topics that we had not initially thought about. This would help us
as it will allow us to gather as many different points as possible
to ensure that our feedback is thorough and precise. To gather our
audience feedback, we decided to create a questionnaire that would
give us both qualitative and quantitative data so that we could get
the best feedback possible. We also believed that by using a
standard questionnaire for every interviewee, we would be able to
gather only the information that we require. We also decided to
upload the video onto the popular video sharing site YouTube as
this was a way for our target audience to get a chance to view our
final product but also have a chance to share their comments and
criticisms about it.Audience feedback is such an important part in
all stages of the production process as without the audience
feedback we would not be able to know if our product was really
attracting our target audience. For example, if we had created our
music video without asking our target audience what they would have
expected to see in it, then the results of the focus group that we
completed afterwards may have been very different, with the results
showing negative feedback rather than the positive feedback that we
actually received.
