Experimenting With FontsAfter experimenting with different fonts for the trailer,

I decided to go for one that I believe would be easy to read and fit well with the trailer. There were many different ideas we tried and experimented with.

Experimenting with coloursThroughout the trailer many different colours were tried to see which went best

with the title card. In my first trailer I decided to use the E4 logo as that would be the channel the soap opera would be shown on, from this I tried to use the E4 colours in my trailer. I believe this is an area of my trailer that I could improve as I did not get the colours spot on. For my final trailer I decided to change the channel my soap would be on to ITV as I thought the soap would fit better on this channel better.

Representing An AreaWe decided to name our soap opera ‘The Grove’ to represent

an area of Manchester, Hazel Grove. ‘Grove’ is also a slang term used in the Manchester area who know the place well, many of the target audience will relate to it as they use this term with friends. This area is mainly middle class, working people who the audience can relate to. This will give the soap a personal connection with its viewers.

Choosing a channel and colour schemes.I decided that the soap opera we had created would fit perfectly with the sort of

things you would find on E4, therefore I decided to use the logo of the channel and follow the style guide to give a professional and accurate look to the trailer. After a discussion I decided that I would not use the E4 channel and opted for ITV instead. I based my final trailer on similar ITV adverts such as the ones for The Only Way Is Essex and Celebrity Juice.

Comparing my final trailer with an ITV2 trailer

As you can see I have tried to incorporate the same features that are used by ITV into my own trailer to make it as authentic as possible.
