My front cover is very similar to that of a professional magazine, both including cover lines, masthead and flasher. Coincidentally, we match when concerning the rule of thirds as my image is right justified just like Cosmpolitan, aswell as my the majority of my text being left justified. As for image, which is most important as is the first thing the audience is drawn to, there is the same facial expressions medium close up (MCU), a happy confident smile to represent my magazine. There are slight differences, obviously there is more sell lines on Cosmopolitan than College Life but apart from that I think our magazines are very similar in both feature and layout. In addition, the model on the cover of the opposing magazine is very made up this would link in with the idea of a fashion magazine compared to a general day to day one.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In my opinion, my contents page is quite similar to that of Cosmopolitan. By categorising the contents it makes it easier for the reader to navigate. In addition, we both chose to stick to columns layout which gives the magazine more order. The main differences in these contents pages are firstly, how I included the title and made a more unique layout and the way Cosmopolitan have organised their pictures to coincide with features within the magazine (e.g. putting captions over photos to indicate pages). I also believe that the other magazine relates to its topic more than mine, such as a fashion magazine includes images of glamorous people. If I were to do my contents again I would insure my images are linked to school such as including a photo with the school in the background rather than a photo that can be applied to any situation.

What have you learnt about the technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Moodle is the colleges virtual learning environment, this is where, in addition to the internet, I found related resources such as magazine covers.I took my pictures for both contents and front page using a digital camera. When taking photos I had to consider both the shot type (MCU) and rule of thirds.InDesign can be used to create posters, flyers and magazine hence this where I put the magazine together to create a double page spread, I also made my contents page on this programme as I found it easier to use than Photoshop. This programme allows you to alter/manipulate an image digitally. Photoshop made it easy to edit my main images and also add on/arrange multiple extra features.Word helped me to make my first draft of the Front Cover, this is a very basic programme which didnt let me add many professional effects; key for a good magazine.
